Buying truck out of state

Finally got moved into the new place in Canyon City Oregon - next door to John Day - after moving outta the North Bay area of California...

WHEW, what a job for a pair of near-70 year olds! 4 truck/trailer loads, 1100 mile round trips each... :(

Anyway, after nearly a month long tussle with the local phone company, got the high-speed DSL hookup working - what a change from the 26. 4 K dialup back in rural California!

SOooooo - will be back on here regularly, keeping all you malcontents and various pot-stirrers in line, just like before... :p :D Oo.

What made you decide on the John Day area Gary? I like central & eastern Oregon but the wife doesn't like the cold. Thats from a gal who was born & raised in Michigan. Less rain & fog & more sun over there than we get here in the valley. Just no work over there for the main bread winner (her). LOL

Holy Cow, Gary; when you visited here last year, weren't you talking about moving to the Oregon Coast?

Not that I blame you. The John Day area was my first choice for retirement, and we would be living there now, had not the Wife's Dr. recomended that she live where the air was "clean and MOIST".

Hope you enjoy it there. I will be through your neighborhood in about 10 days enroute to Elk camp.

Happy hunting Vaughn. I'll bet I have room in my freezer for a elk steak. :D Besides we have a pint jar that belongs to Adria. :-laf

Hey Vaughn - if you have time, stop by for a visit - we're at 300 Adam, last street going south outta town on 395, turn right (only way you CAN turn) and up the hill - up near the top, the street brings ya face to face with our place!

Yeah, was looking for coast-area property, but got hooked on the neat area and LOWWwwww property values - my dad lives over in Payette, about 125 miles east, youngest son is in Springfield, and wife's sister and her husband will be moving here in a couple of months. The climate here is neat, cool summers, got a good-sized place with a heated garage - lotsa room to play with the truck, my ham radio stuff and this PC when the weather turns cold...

A BIG improvement in all ways from the old place in California! ;) :D

Thanks for the invitation Gary, but I will be traveling with others and going in we are allways in a rush to get camp set up and coming out, someone is allways late getting home.
