Man I love driving this truck! I went with " Illflem's " tip, cause i'm a po boy and picked up a 0-30 psi liguid filled gauge at graingers $8 also a needle valve for a $1. 50. Then went to local hose & fitting dealer. 10 ft nylon tubing 1/4 in 250psi no prob. handling deisel fuel. Fitting for schrader at vp-44, I had to remove valve core. 2 compression fittings. I had to build my own mount for gauge, put it down low by hood release. Total for fp gauge set-up less than $25 After gauge was installed I started cranking, "surprise surprise" NO PRESSURE, ZILCH. Luckily lift pump was ordered monday, arrived today about 1 hr after gauge install complete. No new sealing rings with pump "Aaaagh" had to reuse old ones, they looked ok & luckily are not leaking yet. Changed out pump from top side, not to bad. Got scared when I started cranking with new pump. Initially pressure looked good but would not build above 5psi after that. Took about 20 min. of cranking & bleeding, first at fuel filter schrader, then at vp-44 schrader, then injector #3 then#1 then#4. Finally started, ran rough for a min. then smoothed out. Pressure went to 13 idle, took her for a spin 11psi cruising at 70mph, droped to 8 when I got on it. I still think I ought to add the carter pusher pump close to tank. What do yall think? I was a little disapointed that I didn't get more feedback than I did, but I couldn't have fixed my truck if it hadn't been for all you guys that have posted your experiences with your trucks. Thanks so much I hate to think about what might have happened if i had to take it to the shop. $$$$$$$$$
