OK, here are the facts: I switched to an EZ about a month ago. (Pls. read sig. ) I just installed Stage 1 injectors last week. For some time now I have been feeling a shudder or miss. I blew it off as a bump in the road as the time that this occurs is after I have been traveling for hours loaded. (pulling a 5th wheel) Last night coming home from Az. I slowed down to wait on someone. I was running about 50 and 1700 rpm. and starting up a small hill I rolled on a little boost (15#)That when I KNEW I had a problem. The engine stumbled and missed. I immediately backed out of it. There is a problem. Another clue: When I first start the truck and for the first hour or so of operation the truck runs great! But after hours of being on the road, it goes to missing and stumbling. Where do I look. Is it the EZ? It was doing this before the injectors but they have definately agrevated the situation. Help... ... ... ...

Remove the EZ and see if it goes away. You can just unplug the ecm plug and leave the boost hooked up. If it does you have fixed it, if not then you will want to take it off anyway to go to the dealer.

It sounds like you've had the miss since before you installed the EZ. Since it runs good at startup, then starts to miss as it warms up I'd say it sounds like the problem is of an electrical origin. Maybe the accelerator pedal position sensor. Please let us know what you find.

You might want to check that fuel pressure pre-filter, i. e. , lift pump. I know I read that some members with FP gauges were seeing readings bouncing all over the place with the Carter. Mine was reading 1-2 at "near" WOT. I had one stumble with mine while it was stock and a new lift pump resolved the problem.

Its sounds like an electrical problem. once the part that has a problem gets hot its starts to stumble. jnudder had a good idea to unplug EZ and drive for and hour or so and see if you can get it to repeat. if so the EZ is ok.

ive had simular effects with electrical devices getting hot. once I had an alpine radio that would sound great when first turned on. but when it got hot the sterio would turn to mono. I then open the box and sprayed freon (this is when freon was legal) on the varius chips. once I hit the chip that was bad with the cold freon the sterio would work fine again until the chip got hot.

good luck. let us know what you find.

Here is another clue I forgot to mention: When I had the EZ only hooked up, my fuel computer was accurate to within 2/10 of a mpg. I installed the injectors and the fuel computer went nutz. For example: Driving to PHX. to pick up RVs, my fuel computer would read 19 mpg when I would arrive. I cross checked it manually to be sure. This time with the injectors installed, the fuel computer read 21. 4 when I arrived but checking it manually it was really on 18 mpg. I know one should not effect the other so... ... ... .

Pardon me if this is a dumb question, but I got nailed by this one. Is the fuel filter in good shape? Joe

Barry,
I don't know what to add to what's already been said about your stumble problem. However I do know that adding bigger injectors will throw off your mileage computer. Your delivering more fuel through the injectors than what the computer thinks its giving.
Jim

Papa Joe! Good to hear from you! How are you feeling? The fuel filter is OK as I just changed it. And if the injectors change fuel flow, then that explains that... ... ... .
