Howdy guys,

I'm thinking of getting a back up camera for the truck. I just can not continue to gamble with what I can't see I won't hit. I DO NOT have a nav system, so I'm thinking a gps with the back up camera combo.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I bought one from Costco a couple of years ago ( cheap, $100-150 ?) and it was terrible.

It was wireless between the camera and the screen, and always had a lot of interferience. (I know you get what you pay for. )

Now my sister-in-law has a back-up camera/GPS in her Lexus, and is really a great unit.

IMO, just make sure you get a good one.

Good Luck, Ray

I also have the wireless one. It's pretty much useless. I have to sit and wait for interference to go away while backing up to my trailer. I have one in my Lexus also which I also think is great. I think the key is to get a hard wired unit. Not wireless.

I have a wireless unit, also. Mine was bought at a RV dealership, and is a portable unit. Use a magnet to attach the camera to the tailgate, then the another unit for the screen. Works when hooking up to the trailer, however, I will go with what has all ready been said. Get a hard wire unit.

bought my wired one from overstock.com and 5" monitor I mounted next to 4wheel drive shifter under cup holder so it's out of sight works awesome color camera night vision it was all under 130 bucks. wired monitor to keyed switch and camera to on/off switch

Please note that I do NOT have anything to do with this guys business, I just think he has done a super job explaining b/w wired and wireless cam systems; His prices and set-ups are also pretty damn good and he's got good feedback. I have not been able to buy one yet, but when I do it will probably be this one--

Backup Camera

I like some of your ideas, but I was more looking for a GPS with the input for a backup camera. Any ideas guys..... keep the good information coming.

I have a cheep one that is mounted on the cab at the brake light. I use it to see my fifth wheel when backing up to hook up. It is wired to the bed light I jest turn on the bed light and plug in the screen when I go to back up

I have one of his units, not the one the link points to, a different one from the same vendor. I have a 3 camera setup... it's a great system... no more getting in and out of the truck to back to the trailer, very happy with it. :D

I have a Garmin streetpilot 7200. It has the capability for a back up camera input with automatic switching when shifting into reverse. Haven't used this feature yet myself though.
