alright, i have to get my truck inspected tomorrow. it's an automatic. i've had a problem in that the back up lights would not come on unless i lifted up on the shifter a little. now it's gotten to the point where i can barely find a spot that'll turn the back up lights on (it's sort of "creeped up"). i've looked at the steering box before and had no luck ( LOTS of wires). i have my big dodge manual here too, but i can't find the switch. i'm looking for the switch or contact points- whatever controls the back up lights- so that they will turn on as i put the shifter into reverse.

thanks,

Tom

Probably need a new neutral safety/back up switch. Switch is located on the transmission. and is on the drivers side. It will have a electrical "plug" that has to be pulled out before the neutral safety switch can be unscrewed. Torque is about 24 foot pounds. You might lose a bit of trans fluid. See neutal safety switch in your manual.
