Does anyone know if the BackOff light that from Geno's garage is legal to install in the dodge 3rd tailight?

Do the laws differ from state to state?

I bought one 6 months ago, but was afraid to install it on my dodge so I gave it to my son-in-law for his motorcycle.

If it is legal, I would like to install one.
Has any one installed it on their truck?
Thanks, wakely.

I have had the BACK-OFF light installed for about 2 years. The thought of it being legal never crossed my mind. I have never been stopped for it. In fact a Cop wanted to know where I had got it . He wants one for his motorcycle. I`ll bet Its legal in every state. Its an added safety measure... Bill

I finally called the Montana hiway patrol and there responce:
No flashing or pulsing lights are allowed on a vehicle except for emergency or turning.
Guess that answers my question.
Thanks Bill for your reply, is yours mounted on a bike or truck?

Oklahoma has pretty much the same rule as Montana: "No flashing or pulsing lights are allowed on a vehicle except for emergency or turning. " (and no red lights visible to the front) But as cop, I would find myself hard pressed to stop someone for such an infraction as use of the BackOFF light. I'm only interested in serious compromises to SAFETY, like blowin' a red light at a busy intersection. (Don't tell anyone, but I'd never really consider 95MPH by a sober driver on a deserted limited access highway all that unsafe (who among us hasn't done that?) If I stopped ya', it would just to be sure you're ok. Ya' MIGHT get a warning, but unless there's something seriously wrong, it would cost you ONLY your time. ) But then, not all cops look at things quite the way I do.

As for the BackOFF light, I personally think it's a good idea. The eye catches things that CHANGE, and the blinking light would do that. And I don't think anyone would mistake the ol' Ram as an emergency vehicle...

Never thought about it when I put a 2 terminal flasher on the HCMBL the other day. Cheaper than the Back-Off (1. 50+$) and so it only single flashes. Lots of the 2 wheelers on the road have the flashing brake lite so... ... .
Will let those know ifn I gets stopped.
