I have a 98 TurboRam 12valve. The backup lights have quit working and I have checked the fuses and bulbs... all aok. I would like to check the switch that activates the backup lights when reverse is selected with the shift lever... (automatic trans)..... but I cannot find any info on where this switch is located. Can anyone help??? Would hate to have to take it to dealer.

Thanks.

I believe it is located on the transmission housing. You might want to check a Chilton manual. If you cannot fix it, my cousin is a ASE tech in Acton and works on his own, he is a great mechanic, much better than a dealer, if you need fixed just mentioning it b/c your in the AV.

Thanks for the help... . I will check the trans housing and Chiltons manual. If no luck I will contact your brother in Acton... . it's not that far away from Lancaster. Really appreciate the help..... and your right... it's good to stay away from the Dealer mechanics if at all possible.

Thanks again... .

Try this. As you're in reverse slowly move the shifter to neutral and then slowly to drive. see if the lights com on if the do your switch needs adjusted and it is located on the driver side next to were you shift linkage is. i think you have to drop the pan o adjust it but i'm not sure i'll check on that for you it's been too long
