I recently had my clutch replaced in the '05. Shortly after that, my backup lights quit working. I am thinking the plug for the backup switch on the transmission came unplugged. My question is, where is the plug on the transmission located? I have a plug in a wiring harness on the left side of the transmission hanging near the top of the transmission, but I don't know where it plugs in? TIA.

Passenger side, about a foot back from the PTO cover.
Looks like this (exhaust is on the left in the pic):

Checked the plug mentioned above and it is securely plugged into the sensor. Both back up lights do NOT shine at all even with willgling of the shifter lever in reverse. I am at a loss as I don't believe both backup bulbs would go out at the same time. Any ideas appreciated.

That switch that goes into the transmission goes bad. I have replaced mine twice. Some folks have had luck cleaning the switch with a dissolving parts cleaner of some kind and bringing it back to life. You can check the switch with a meter for continuity while out of the truck to test if that is the problem.

When removing / replacing the switch, is the oil level such that it will run out when the switch is removed? I just want to be prepared. :)

No, the oil level is well below that.
Also, I recommend getting the switch at Orielly's. They give you a life time warranty on these and that can save you some good money since they are a somewhat common failure.

Got it ordered at Advance with Lifetime Warranty. Should get it installed next week. I will let you know how it turns out.

Finally got the correct switch in at Advance Auto last week after three weeks. The failed to listen to what was being ordered and chose to order what they thought I needed!!!!

Got the new switch installed yesterday afternoon. This has solved the problem and I am now happy again! Thanks to everyone who helped and provided input.
