well the abs is out on the truck, but brakes are still good, the pedal just feels like a sponge. i took it into the dealer and they said it needs a new abs module and a c. a. b. i'm wondering what that is, and if i could do it myself since its about $200 for the module and $500 to replace it. anything to save up some truck funds for some pump upgrades

The c. a. b, is controller anti lock brakeD/C loves acronyms. module that You can bet a good portion of that $500 is already spent on diag. The physical replacing of the parts is not that big of a deal'but what if they are wrong and you did it?parts will not be returnable.

what else could be responsible for the symptoms: abs light, brake light, and squishy brakes. so far, the brakes are still good, vacuum is good, power steering works fine, no air in brake lines. I checked the electrical connections to the abs valves and they are all good. i do have trailer brake controller, but never had any problems with it and it still works. I'm not too worried about this because the breaks still work great, but I would like to get it fixed so that I can tow again. another thing, if i pound on the brakes while stopped, the symptoms go away, but when i touch the brakes again, the symptoms come back. i'm just trying to save some money, but maybe i shouldn't be so cheap. has anyone else had this problem, what could it be?

the c. a. b. was broken somehow, too bad cause i could have saved a few hundred bucks by doin it myself but i didn't really know what was wrong. i'm getting really sick of my dealership now. they have spent a lot of time and a lot of my money fixing my brakes, and they don't last a week before something goes wrong.
