Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Bad APPS/TPS

Has anyone had any experience with replacing the APPS on a 98. 5 with the one from Napa (just the sensor not the whole throttle assembly that you get fron the dealer). I really dont want to spend $400 on an entire assembly when the only problem is a bad pot. I dont know if I want to experiment with opening it up and cleaning it but if its that or a bunch on money I will give it a try.

Apps

I had a bad one on my 98. 5. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

I asked the service mgr. about "tinkering" with an APPS. He said he did it once when he was still "wrenching" and also said it was the last one he did. It took him 4 hrs. to get it back to where the truck would perform ok.

Just passing on what he said.
