Well this may be long but needs to be told so bear with me.

Last Feb. took the truck out to West Yellowstone for a snowmobile trip. While in Yellowstone something made a bang noise while driving in 4 wheel & then made a constant clunk. Looked under truck & found front pinion bearing had grenaded. Drove truck 1,300 miles home & took to local dealer Don Miller West which is rated five star. They confirmed that the front axle pinion bearings had gone bad & ruined ring pinion also due to heat.

My list of parts was a total of 1,900 with 500 in labor. I also had to pay for a wheel bearing/hub assy that all of a sudden "locked up" but I think they damaged it while taking it apart.

Truck drove great but after 1,500 mile the right axle seal started leaking which were new. Returned truck to dealer & was not met with kindness but they did replace both left & right axle seals but did not no why they leaked. No charge to me. When I picked up truck & got up to 55 mph the front end made a loud rumbling noise until I stopped but never did it again.

1,500 miles later the right axle seal is pouring out diff fluid on tire when truck sits. Take back to dealer & deal with service manager again. At this time I am ******. I told him fix it right cause this is retarded. He calls me next day saying they cleaned up a groove on axle, installed new seal & test drove truck & found no leaks. Pick up truck & the loud rumbling noise is heard again but this time worse. Noise sounded like a very bad right front wheel bearing. Drive truck right back to dealer & drop it off that night.

Dealer call me 3pm next day saying everything is fine & cant duplicate noise. They did have the nerve to tell me that the bearing/hub does have play & all of a sudden my ball joints are loose. Service manager also seemed to think I was setting them up to get free parts yet I have payed for everything so far. Decided to have them install a new right front wheel bearing/hub assy but I had to buy part but no labor.

Picked up truck & on the way home rumbling noise happened three time on the way home. Still not fixed.

Not sure what to do now as the truck does not make the noise anymore. Seems everytime after they replace the seals it does it for a little bit then goes away for good when you come to a complete stop. Sounds like a bad wheel bearing but both fronts are new.

Anyway stay far away from Don Miller in Madison,WI.

Sorry,2001 2500 with Cummins HO,6 spd. Had 162,000 miles when pinion bearings failed. Has 165,000 on it now.

Before failure truck never had any leaks, strange noises & balljoints were tight as they still are but Dealer is just trying to make up excuses. Not sure what else to list.

Kinda between a rock & hard place as I cant duplicate noise again. Think I am gonna tear down the front end myself & check it out. Something has got to be amiss. Also was pretty nice for the tech to leave his bunje cord in the shock tower that he used to hold the caliper up. Thanks buddy.
