Huff or Bark that is the Question.

I wasn't going to post this because I am not the type to publicly bash a vender. However after talking with a few people... The story needs to be told. I wouldn't want someone who is looking for a good trouble free transmission to choose a company with customer service like this.

Here is the whole story.

Purchaced the trans from Randys off Road, had it installed at Agressive Off road because randy's was booked. Got the full warranty, install was spotless. Truck ran and drove great for months. Service was great as to be expected.

Took truck upto BD because it lost lockup. They told us that there was a recall, and the solenoids (sp?) were in backwards due to a mix-up with a new guy in the VB shop. It was their fault and they would take care of us.

One week goes by. We get a call that the TC was fixed and to come and get it. We get it, cross the border, and OD light came on, all by itself. Shifts down to direct. Locks up. OD button doesn't do anything. Restart truck, all is fine. For about 5 miles. Then does it again. We call them, they tell us to bring it back ASAP. He drives it to work, starts doing locked shifts from OD to 2nd. OUCH! Then there was nothing. Rented trailer, took it back up.

Another week goes by. We get a call. Truck is ready. Has a new TC, new trans. Come and get it. We do, this time it makes it ALMOST home and it starts shifting HARD and then grinding / squealing. Get trailer again, take back up.

Two weeks pass. We call up about every other day. Truck gets two other trans, and 4 other TC's. Finally is done. They told us that they had a problem with their TC shop. That this is another "series" of trans.

Get up there to pick it up. Had them leave the keys in the fuel door (After hours). I find one of the tires in the back of the truck and the spare on the front right. Look at the tire in the back, there is a straight cut from the tread up the sidewall about 3". Tire is shot. No note, nothing said on the phone about it. Ask them about it the next morning and they say that "it just was flat one morning". They won't pay to fix it. Looks to me that they hit it on the lift.

Get truck home and dad takes it to work the next day. Finds he has no cruise control. Then he gets stuck on the job site, and finds he has no 4x4. Gets unstuck and goes to fuel up the equipment with the inbed pump. No power. They jacked all the wires up. Call them, they told us to figure it out! And bring it back if we were unable to fix it. WTF ever! I will NEVER take another truck up there!

This is by FAR the WORST I have ever been treated by a vender. NEVER again! :mad:

Does their shop have a glass front lobby?You could always park it in there. That might get their attention. Sorry bud... ...

If it was me that messed your truck up I would just ask how much cash do you need to fix the tire and the wiring. I would accept up to $1000 as a fix but would also ask if you wanted me to fix it myself and drive to you to do this. Sounds like they definately need better mechanics not to mention customer service. I would make them pay you for it. At least you wouldn't feel so bad about having to fix their mistake. I also get very frustrated when i have repairs done by a "professional" and it comes back to haunt me. Recently my 5 star dealer had to replace my carrier bearing 3 times in less than 3 weeks because he wouldn't take my advice on cleaning up the blue crap on the rear shaft splines. I made them replace it until it was fixed and then said they could pay themselves since I lost 5 days total work because of their mistake... . they took the deal with no hassle. Hope this helps, Chris

In reply to the BD thread, because I am no longer allowed to post there, and my reply was deleted.

Effort was made on our part to settle this. As stated in the original post "The last time we called we were told that the tire was "not our problem" and to try to figure out the other stuff ourselves. Then bring it back if we were unable to fix it. " Having the truck out for another week while we wait for you to fix the problem AGAIN is not an option. When this truck is out of service we are loosing money. When we are required to rent a vehicle to get to the job site because you have ours, we are loosing money. When we have to rent a trailer to transport the truck back up to you, we loose money. When we have to drive the truck back up to have the install finished, we loose money. We are tired of loosing money over this.

The reason I posted was so that someone else would not have to go through this again. And in hopes that you will try to make changes to your system to stop it from happening again. If you would have stepped up to start with and taken care of it without me having to ask (true customer service) this would have never become and issue.

When it is convenient for him, Mr. Haner will be contacting you to see how willing you are to take care of the above issues. Hopefully now that this is out in the open we will get more than the "we are done with this, you are on your own" attitude.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

Keep us posted!

Hopefully BD is ready to admit the mistake, compensate you and everyone can move on.

I would think that we would see a willingness to take care of you as this is the home office and shop of BD.

Sorry to hear about your saga. I had one of my own with a short shift kit from BD. Got shoveled around the company for about a month, before being blown off. Cost me 600 bucks to repair the truck. For me, BD is initials for "BIG DISSAPOINTMENT". All I can say is I will never own, reccomend, or consider any product by BD. I hope you get your truck running and back in service soon.

Please see the BD forum for the complete situation, this situation has been taken care of. The copy and paste methodology is getting old.

Bhaner, your point has been made and given every opportunity we have taken care of the situation. If your first complaint is on a public forum, it is tough to understand why.

Very interesting, I must say. Mr. Roth is commenting on Mr. Haner's ability to cut & paste? This is sarcastic and uncalled for in my view. He wrote his situation once, well enough to be copied "as is" to another forum. So What?

Tough to understand why he is complaining in public? I submit, Mr. Roth, that you need a lesson in consumer relations. Trans issue aside, the tire issue alone discredits your integrity. BDs first stance was deny. . or maybe the customer wont notice. Or better yet, get a tire shop to say something else. Dont you realize, when the customer (instead of the employee) brought the facts to your attention, your best course of action is to replace the tire, or offer the cost of a new tire WITH AN APOLOGY. PERIOD. This is a no brainer.

Still dont understand? Is his truck fixed to his satisfaction? Would it have been fixed if he didnt go public?

To get more of the story, I went over and read the thread. I did see your president's comments. It his comforting to see his interest, but lets all be reminded what a pitfall complacency can be. Frankly, the customer base or time in business thing doesnt sit well with a dissatisfied customer. It may only make them feel even less appreciated.

Still unsure on how to proceed? Fix the truck, double the warranty, ask the customer to provide receipts for out of pocket expenses and offer up a gift certificate for that amount. Call him next week, next month and next year and ask he provide updates to all that are watching.

BHaner, I would like to hear the rest of the story, like did BD ever make it right with you. I am going to be replacing my transmission here in the near future, BD is on the short list. But that can change.

Please let me know, Chris

Go to DTT! Their customer service & product are second to none IMHO! www.dieseltrans.com 866. 504. 4002

Clay :D

Try NADP, they replaced my $1200 TC with one of a higher price even, just so the truck would perform as promised, I thought that was pretty good of them.

I'm sure he would like the person he already "tried" and "paid" to do it right as advertised without costing him allot of extra money.

52,000 km's to get fixxed and still not working!!!!

338000 km's plus and still not fixxxxxed.

Well the dollarships/ cumins took my money for.

Steering wheeel that osocillated between 10 o-clock and 2-0clock.

That wore out the ball joints and all other parts of the steering componants. $$5000. 00 plus out of my pocket. out of warranty. :-{}

A diesel engine that has a bad arc in the electrical system that causes the engine to run rough and has noooooooooooo power no guts. Now it shakes in the rear end at highway speeds because of the rough running. Something over $14,000. 00 wasted on stupid re& re boys that prove that they know nothing. ( bosch was no help either years ago on the question could their VP deliver fuel evenly??????)

Has leaked ( burned ) coolant since new when they added 3 liters of coolant and that meant nothing to them :-{}

powermaster said that I had to have cryslurrr help me with my problems.

damlercryslurr says ( lately) that they dooooo have the ability to fix it and sorry for the (inconvenience)

So won't be buying any thing from cryslurrr or cumins any more. !!!!!!!!!1

:-{} :-{} :-{}

I know what you are going thru BHaner, short version: I had a BD transmission installed in my 94 2wd and after 5 rebuilds and 2 years of dealing with BD and trying to get them to repair the problems in their product, I finally took it to a local race transmission shop and was quite amazed at what was found. No wonder they won't last!

Never again will I buy anything BD has touched.

Not really meaning to bash BD, but I called them the other day inquiring about one of their turbos. I gotta' say that the call left me telling myself that I would not be purchasing one of theirs. The difference in knowledge and general helpfulness between them and the other few places I called was "night & day".

Just my opinion
