I don't think Jim will mind me starting this thread. '97 manual with some mods, Dr. P for one and later with me turning some screws. Last Saturday in Buda his dyno results were horrible. Somewhere around 215 and would not rev past 2300 without falling flat on it's face. Also white smoke. Slipped timming, right? Wrong!!! I checked it today, double checked my indicators three times to make sure. He is probably at 17 degrees. Started checking the basics, you know sometimes you have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees. Overflow a tad short, stretched the spring a bit. Preheater screen, lots of debris. Tossed the heater. Checked the filter, looked pretty bad with contamination in the bottom of the housing. Installed new filter, checked for leaks, test drove, and "WALLA", this truck now hauls but. He has only had it for 7k, but aparrently the new ULSD had loosened crud enough to really restrict fuel. He left a happy camper for sure. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Really wanted to put mine on the dyno, but at 10:30, they were on truck #14, and my # was 57. At 7 per hour, I was not going to wait till 4:00, or so. Will wait till next time. Glad I was able to get Jim's problem solved.

Oo. Yes!! I am estatic. My heartfelt thanks to Smitty for his hard work & attention to detail. If any of you are anywhere near Kingsland, Tx. & need work done be sure to see Smitty.

I would also like to thank Fred Swanson for the consultation.
