Has anyone else had a prob. with a front bearing? I had one go out and it shelled the hub as well. It was on the pass. side. They told me it was due to some unknown reason, but I was wondering if other people have had this problem. I have 34k and change when it happened. A month ago I hooked up chains to a ford with a supped up gasser and broke his axle shaft(pulled him all the way through 3rd gear before letting him off) Oo. , I thought they could be connected, but there was a month in between the issue and the pull-off. At least it was warrenty work, nothing quite as good as seeing N/C all over the bill.

What were the symtoms for the bad wheel bearing? I have a wierd noise that showed up recently from the what sounds like the front end, it varies with speed, I have not had a chance to take it in yet to find out what it is.

Easy way to tell a bad front bearing is turning the wheel while driving. It will growl when loading it by turning one way, and usually with diminish or stop when unloading it by turning another way.

Only one! I went through 3 replacements on my truck at only 41000 miles. Drivers side twice, passenger once. Just jack up the front of your truck and push the wheel side to side, if there is any movement then its bad. Truck will wander more going down the road too.

wow, guess I'm not alone. I too jacked it up, found wheel movement, and than pulled my tire off. When I turned it by hand it would seize up at the same place every time. Nice to know at lease that it had nothing to do with demolishing a ford. :-laf
