I always provide the customer with a sample of the fuel I pull out of the vehicle Oh by the way I forgot to mention the 30 gallons of gasoline I pulled out of an 06 3500 most fuel contaminations are obvious but there are some that need analysis usually repeat repairs fall into this group most fuel injector problems I see relate more to idle time and carbon build up but I guess it would be easier to blame the fuel speaking of idle time the current record here is 53 percent can any one top this

You made a costly mistake when you left the Dodge dealer's service bay without demanding a share of the "contaminated fuel" that they based the warranty refusal on. Now you have no proof that the fuel was clean, or, for that matter, contaminated. No evidence = no proof of your position.

I've never heard from a fellow Dodge owner or read on the TDR about any dealers claiming fuel was contaminated and denying a fuel system warranty claim.

I have no idea whether your fuel was contaminated, or not, but keep in mind, a dealer is paid for replacing bad parts whether by Chrysler under warranty or by you if it is not.

I suppose it is possible that dealers may know that Chrysler is in such dire financial straights that they are slow-paying or possibly not paying for warranty claims, don't know, but an honest dealer is not likely to do that.

It is possible also that your local suppliers have heard of claims of fuel contamination from dealers in your area which could mean that there has been actual contamination in your area.

Harvey. I used to gain some insight from your posts and experiences, but in the last 20mins of searching on here for KNOWLEDGE that will help me in my decision of buying a truck, all I read from you are ridiculous opinionated statements.

I had an injector replacement denied due to bad fuel. Guess what the tech did. He showed me a glass jar with about 1/2 quart of fuel that had some odd coloring in it. I found out later from a friend of mine employed by this dealer that the tech was shortly thereafter fired for keeping the same dirty fuel sample and claiming that every truck with a fuel system related issue had bad fuel.

I'm sure that's impossible based on your above quoted post, but its an actual scenario that happened to me.

A prime way of showing fuel contamination is to pull and inspect the FCA,connector tubes and injectors. If the fuel was bad enough to damage anything in the hi pressure system it should show. With the 6. 7 it gets harder due to the s/s used.

Thanks for proving my points.

You weren't smart enough to demand a share of the alleged phony fuel sample so your warranty claim was denied and you couldn't do anything to dispute it.

The dealership allegedly fired the dishonest mechanic proving that a dealership doesn't knowingly deny valid warranty claims.

My posts are often very, even extremely opinionated. That's because I am usually expressing an opinion based on my experience and acquired knowledge. Expressing my opinion tends to make my posts "opinionated. "

If you can't understand my posts or disagree with my opinions I will allow you to skip over them. Just look for my name and when you see it on the left side of the screen don't read that post, it might be opinionated.

Harvey,

Thanks for the compliments as to my intelligence during that ordeal. Not that an opinionated, Know-it-all, gentleman such as yourself would care, but I did get the situation resolved. I did not have to pay for the claim, and the tech WAS fired for exactly the reason I posted, I don't recall the point of the dealer denying the claims to have ever been questioned. The statement was made that the claim was denied due to a "bad fuel sample" Was this done by the dealer as a whole, or by an individual tech? That was never a question in any of the posts I read, therefore your point was aimless.

I have full intentions of skipping over your posts, they are typically argumentative, lacking any true basis for the statements made, and unlike previous posts I have read of yours in the past when you were still hauling trailers, they are a complete waste of time.

SO, you can reply back with all the pi$$ and vinegar you would like, but from this point on, with your oh, so gracious permission, I will skip over it.

And threads like this are the reason why I don't.

Yes I also hate threads that share valueable info.

You will find many more instances of this happening if you visit other forums.

Maybe it's time to broaden your horizons Harvey.

I've got several trucks and when they (DODGE) started to deny warranty claims on injectors because of dirt... we installed a 10 micron primary filter and a 2 micron secondary filter on the frame of all our trucks... to date, we've now got 5 trucks running this set up... one set of filters now has close to 100K miles and we'll change those as we head into winter...

I wonder sometimes about the fuel pump in the tank but to date we've no problems with that...

I can't imagine that a customer could get dirty diesel from most stations... as they usually have a large 10 or 15 micron filter in the pump..... but I guess it could happen... .

wouldnt there still be some of this bad fuel in the fuel filter can to view also as well as what was left in the tank also if so the place where you last fueled would have more diesel trucks with the same batch or was it from the bottom of the storage tank at the fuel depot ? and is all your on road fuel filtered at the pump? orange stuff is either gasoline or rust suspended in water or all of the above . i always try and watch them do there work so there is no deception but my dealer has always taken care of my requests fairly .
