I had to make a early morning trip to one of my mountain top microwave sites, so I stopped at a place that sells very expensive diesel (thats everywhere in Arizone right now), I never buy from them, but it was a 10 mile trip the other direction to get fuel at my regular place.

17 miles from the closest road, I thought I had broken something because the motor would only turn about 1600 RPM and I had 0 fuel pressure. I got to flat ground and located my spare fuel filter (thanks Dad) and socket, but when I took the old filter out, It was covered with black slime... . Really stinky...

I have driven about 100 miles since and changed it again (bought 4 Napa filters) was less slimy, but still a fair amount.

Question: Will I need to drop the tank and have it cleaned ?? Will the slime get beyond the filter and kill something else ?? Will I get arrested for yelling at the Bozo that owns the Mini-Mart :D

PLEASE tell me you have the reciept. If not Take note of mileage , time date etc and based on that you should be O. K

:EDIT:

This scenereo scares me as more and more stations will have issues with this as I have heard on the CB from the Trucking gossip pipeline that stations out off the beaten path will ILLEAGALY cut fuel ..... even with water thinking that the trucks water seperator will pull it out so no harm done and the station makes their $$$$$ for less   . Worst part is that A: you are not getting wat you paid for B: The oppertunity for algae and critters to grow in the tanks is now 30fold with the presence of water. Do your self a favor and when you do get this resolved use an additive like Diesel Services 911 treatment and shock your tank like a swimming pool.

Thanks for the advice. .

I first contacted the Station Manager , received the reply I expected (??? black stuff ?? never heard of it) She did tell me where they get their fuel, called them. . They also own the store,,

Guy at the co. office was very nice and admitted that the station only sells 8-900 gallons of fuel a month, and they probably have a algae problem. He set me up with a mechanic who will pull my tank, clean it, and flush the entire fuel system, at no cost to me.

He says they will probably not sell diesel at this mini-mart in the future.

Wow, that's great. I would have expected them to just blow you off.

WOW boy oh boy you got lucky! What even is more of a shocker is that they admitted to their low monthly transfer. That is great news! Keep us posted on whats happenin'
