I also think its a bit far fetched. What I have seen them do is use the Dodges to work or do the grunt work with and the Duramax is just the daily driver. HMMMMM Wonder why? :-laf

My 06' DRW quad cab 4 x 4 LWB truck with 1600 miles on it got 17. 5 mpg (hand calc, overhead had 18. 3) at the pump last time and is now showing 19. 5 gpm on the overhead (which will be about 18. 7 gpm when I do hand calcs. ) I am on my way to 20 mpg based on how I drive (less than 2k rpm) and due to the fact I put a tonneau cover on the back. This is with it empty and combination interstate/town driving.

I haven't pulled anything with it yet, so can't comment on the mileage until I do.

air and exhaust

my 05 is getting poor mileage too! But lots of power. Is it worth the money to add on a AFE air filter and a bigger exhaust? Any immisions stuff to illiminate? Worth taking it to the dealer ship for a tune up? Mine totally stock with about 50,000 klm's.

Being a first time CTD owner... . and all previous trucks were chipped gassers that "ran well" I can honestly say... . "my mileage is DIRECTLY related to my right foot"... . in other words... driving my new truck like my old ones (read hot rod) the mileage suffers..... drive it "normal" and the mileage is good... drive it like it should the mileage is great... .

hot rodders mileage is 12-14

normal mileage is 15-17

like it should mileage is 18-19

so is it the truck or the "wing nut" behind the wheel??? LOL-BJ

BTW- 285's pretty much "fix" the overheads MPG readings

My 06 has 3300 on it now and averages 19 on my 55mph country roads of I keep it to 60ish and don't rocket off each stop (very hard to do). The week after I got it I drove it from Charleston to St. Louis and back (1700 miles) and it averaged 19. 5, it had about 600 miles on it when I left. I kept it to the speed limit, since it was very new and it was amazing on the hills. The trip computer is about 1mpg higher than hand calculating it if there is allot of stop and go driving. I definitely see a strong connection between how I drive and the fuel economy. Towing my 3000 pound trailers drops it a few mpg and thats about it. I haven't towed the car hauler yet, we'll see, my 94 Chevy 5. 7 got 9 with it, I know this one will be better and an easier tow. So far I am very pleased with this truck, and can't stop grinning.

mpg

my 06 mpg is 16-20 empty. 15-16 light towing. i came back from sc. going 70-75 mph. it was 20mpg. only 3k on the quad. smart driving will allways pay off. kp

Mpg

My 05 gets 18 in city and 22 on road driving 65, Last week I

put ATS manifold AFe stage 2 and Banks exhaust. I will see

if it gets better.
