Hey Guys,

Well, as always, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

On Thursday I was asked to bring my truck to a service center (transmission shop). They have done a bunch of work for me in the past and I am friends with the owner. He was thinking about purchasing a diesel injector cleanining system and had the rep there to test it out. He asked if I wanted the system cleaned for free. All I had to do was tell him if I noticed any MPG increase and an increase in power. Sounded like a good deal, so I dropped by to help him out.

Well, this the procedure the rep did to the truck. He disconnected the two quick disconnects from the pump (about 2 feet back, an inlet and return line). Then he hooked in a 32oz bottle of his "cleaning agent" into the loop. He then had me start the truck. He said we needed to let it run for about 25-30 minutes until all the solution was gone (at 1100 rpm).

When we went to start the truck, there must have been air in the system because it didn't want to run very smooth. He then added air pressure to the bottle to force the solution in (it didn't seem like the pump wanted to pull the solutiion). We ran the truck for 30 minutes and the solution was gone. He disconnected everything and got it back to normal and told me to take it for a spin and see if I felt anything. It seemed to make the truck more responsive.

I went back and talked with the tech and the owner for a bit (45 mins) and when I came back out, started the truck, it idled VERY poorly. It was bouncing from 625-880 rpm. He told me there might be a bit of air left in the system and to drive it home (45 miles) and let him know if it got better.

I got up the next day and the truck would not start. It just puffed white smoke (this has NEVER happened before). Then I plugged it in for a few hours (it was 35 deg out, but the truck was in the garage) and it did fire up, but blew an assload of white smoke. Again it idled like crap, I put 45-50 miles on it to see if it would stop, but no luck. It runs great, but will not idle worth a crap.

Anybody have a clue what happen? The owner said he will take care of whatever it is. I just need to find out what "it" is.

Thanks for help in advance.

I'd recommend putting a scan tool on it and watch your various pressure sensors. There also may be a pending code, one that hasn't tripped the check engine light, but is causing problems.

Keep us posted!

See what happens

I will see if anybody gives me any ideas, if not I will just bring it over to JH.

The vendor said he is responsible, so no big deal, just a pain in the ... .
