In a earlier post I ask if there was any way to get fuel into the sump other than from a bad injector pump. So far 50 views, no replies.

I don't want to replace the IP if there's nothing wrong with it, but so far, no suggestions as to what to look for.

can't imagine that I'm the only one who's had this problem !!

Bob E, Best way to tell if you got diesel is in the oil is to have an oil analysis done (or you can taste the oil).

I take it your not filling the oil filter before putting it on (or are you)?

The p7100 injection pump holds almost 2 quarts of oil. It takes a while for it to drain out.

I don't know of any way fuel can get into oil thru p7100 (but some one mite know).

Injector is most likely cause. How is engine running?

I have to ask if there is a problem with starting-running? I think MM is on the right track, injector issue. Lift pump, possibly. Keep us posted.

Yes, there's a problem starting, but that's another issue. It runs great once started. Prime it with the lift pump and it's good to go until the next day. That's a problem I can live with until I find the source of the oil getting into the sump.

It is a lot more likely that the source of the fuel in the oil is the lift pump than the IP. Having to pump it up in the morning could be a related issue. I would fix the hard start issue first.

I agree, the fact that it looses prime is an indication the fuel drained back and probably went into the crankcase.
