I read several threads about lift pumps failing, after mine failed earlier this week on my 03 with 94K miles. My insurance paid to have the truck towed anywhere within 11 miles. I always have stuff done at my hometown dealership down in Belen (30 miles south of Albuquerque). Anyway, so as not to have to pay for the extra tow miles, I had them tow it to Zangara Dodge in Albuquerque; BIG MISTAKE!
They said that the retro fit, in-tank fuel pump would NOT be covered under warranty cuz I had a "performance kit" on my truck. Asking what he was referring to, he pointed to my ATS Co-Pilot, which controls my torque converter. He had no clue what it was for, but called it a "hot box". After I explained to him that it did nothing to enhance the engine performance, he then pointed at my BD X-Monitor and said, "Well you also have this box". He even had the ignition in the "on" position, so he could clearly see the printout (transmission Temp, Pyro, & Boost). I explained that it simply "monitored" those things. This went on for several minutes before I gave up on this idiot. #@$%! Paid $250 to have the truck towed to my home dealership, Auge's in Belen. These guys rock! Told them I was on my way and they immediately verified they had the retro fit pump kit in stock. Said they would take care of me.
Note to self (and anyone else who lives or visits Albuquerque): Stay AWAY from Zangara Dodge!
