Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) bad lift pump

Hello, I talked my friend into purchasing a FP gauge. We installed it and his pressure is 5 @ idle and nearly 0 @ 60 mph. Other than the dealer, where is a good place to order a left pump and what's the newest number. I've searched this but there is so much on lift pumps it's difficult to find this. Thank you.

I just bought one today, Changed fuel filter, and truck wouldn't restart. Pump was running but had zero output, I even unhooked the banjo fitting right out of the pump... . nothing.



I looked at Dodge, Cummins, and O'Reillys. All three pumps were identical, Dodge was a Carter pump in a Cummins box with a Dodge sticker on the box, $279 w/discount, 12 mo warranty. Cummins was a Carter pump, Cummins box, $145, 12 mo warranty, O'Reillys was a Carter pump in a Carter box, $149, Liftime warranty.



I went with O'Reillys... Same pump, better warranty.

Yeah, lifetime warranty, I worked there for a couple of years and all the Carter pumps, mechanical or electric, are lifetime warranty. The other parts houses are the same way for Carter. I'd check around I bet someone in your area carries Carter pumps. I've worked auto parts since '89 and I've never seen a Carter pump (sold in a Carter box), NOT carry a lifetime warranty.



P74213 is the Carter part number.

Since you are in BFE, how are the prices for parts at Dave Smith Motors? I think the nearest Cummins of Freightliner dealer would be in Spokane - way out on the west side, off of I-90.

Other than that, I think the guys and gals of the TDR could find you a good place to order one online.
