I did some searching and I haven't come up with a whole lot.

Back a few months ago, I had the truck at the body shop and when I went to pick it up, the owner mentioned that when he fired up the truck that morning, the power steering wasn't working and it leaks p/s fluid all over the ground. I ended up having to refill it because it was close to empty.

My brakes pedal is slow to return... like when I push the pedal and lift my foot up, the pedal doesn't follow my foot... instead it slowly comes back up to the top.

Does this sounds like a problem with that canister? How do I go about testing it? It takes a good 4 or 5 pumps before the brakes get hard with the engine off. Seems like air would be in the system actually, but I've bled it many times.

i don't know squat about a dodge hydroboost but i know a fare amount about a bmw hydro boost, they don't like being over filled and will almost lock the brakes when overfilled if you stand on it long enough and let up till the pump sucks the fluid level down (closed resevior hydro locks) like being stuck in traffic and the car doesn't want to move, to fill properly pump pedal till no boost is felt and pump some more then fill leaving some air space no markings on bmw resevior. i've had all kinds of failure modes with a bad accumulator, squishy brakes and rock hard brakes, usually they don't effect the steering power, the accumulator is just there to add cush to the pedal the same reason they use them on the hydraulic suspension on the same cars, it gives the fluid a place to go when the cylinder reaches a stopping point otherwise it's like a ram on a forklift

I remember reading some posts on this, but I can't seem to find them in the search.

Any help on determining if mine is bad?

Hi Nate, things tend to slow down a bit here on the weekends, I think many people check in from work. If you do not get any responses, bring it back up tomorrow afternoon and if necessary again on Monday morning. I can't help you with this problem, but I can say that after several years of reading here I do not recall much if any conversation on this type of problem. You might get the moderator to change the theards title to slow brake pedal and/or try searching on that.

Good Luck,

Bill
