I rebuilt my motor and after about 500 miles it is now leaking oil. It just started doing this today. The oil is leaking down from in between the transmission adapter plate and the block. Would this be a rear crank seal problem. I didn't have any leaks as i was under the truck checking things out earlier today. I then took the truck out for about a 2 mile run and when i came back the oil was leaking pretty good. I was running the truck hard when i had it out so this is kind of scaring me. thanks, Matt

just checked out the rear valve cover and all is good there. i wish it would have been the problem though. Also no oil leak from the head or anywhere i could fell on the back of the motor. The oil is definatly coming down from inbetween the adapter and block. matt

three possibilitys that I can think of,

1. crankshaft seal

2. the aluminum housing that bolts to the block that the rear seal sits in, there is a gasket behind that I believe

3. the soft plug in the block behind the camshaft
