Just a heads up on what I found while Waxing my truck this weekend. I noticed that what I thought were spots on the paint that I was having trouble getting wax from. I thought they might be tree sap or something so bought special cleaner to remove it. No luck.  Upon further inspection i found they were pits in paint. Took truck to dealer and he referred me to a body shop for inspection. Sure enough Clear coat is bubbling up and coming off in little pin head spots. The body shop man said I sure hope we are not going thru another session of delaminating like they had a few years ago. Spots were very hard to see at first but when filled with wax showed up readily. I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this . My truck is 31 months old.

Paint Problem

I purchased my 01. 5 in May. I wax every two weeks as I have a black truck and live in Florida. I have no paint or clear coat problems except one little ding that the dealer put in it when they cleaned it up. Actually the paint and clear coat looks real good.

While I was at the Body shop there was another Dodge 3/4 ton with almost the same color on it so we looked at the hood and it was almost as bad as mine with the pits.

I had to have my passenger side rear fender extension re-squirted because the factory applied the paint too thin on the top lip. While washing the truck I noticed some yellow showing through the blue paint then upon closer inspection noticed that the paint was peeling.

I haven't noticed pitting... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . yet! Hope I don't. My build date was March 2000.

My 01 is 16 month old... and it is delaminating. Hood and roof are the only spots so far. They started off as a small spot, but are spreading. The hood I'm not too concerned about, but the roof has me ticked!

Maybe the paint is peeling off the hood because your running a gasser?????????????????????:D :D ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... just kidding!

Saw your rig @ Hooters a couple of weeks back, looks nice.

I work in a body shop where we do warranty on GMC, Ford and Dodge. Dodges have more paint problems than anyone else. Thin paint(Transparant basecoat) is what I see the most, and yes it's on my truck too.

The worst is body fit. My quad doors were hard to shut, so I readjusted them. They shut easier than any other truck I've checked, and don't rattle or wind leak.

Most quad cabs That come thru the shop are hard to shut, and "pop" when you open them.
