Has anyone had any luck getting D-C to pony up for their crappy paint jobs?

My 94 started getting bubbles in the silver toned paint within the first year.

The dealer authorized repairs for the first two occurrances but now that the truck is over 5 years and 70,000 miles they refuse to do anything for me.

The paint is not just bubbling now, it is falling off.

I called their "Customer Service" number and my complaint was forwarded to the regional manager and the local dealer.

Later the same day the dealer called and informed me that the regional manager refused any help.

Howard, you got as far as I did, they aren't going to cover it unless the metal rusts all the way though. Maybe it's time to break out a jug of sulfuric acid. The amount of missing paint on my 2500's hood probably adds up to over a square foot now and is growing daily.

I had bubbles in the clearcoat on the left front fender when I took reciept of the truck. They honored the repair of the fender... that's as far as it's gone. The truck is only 9 months old.

I figure I'll continue to make 'payments' into a special account once the truck is paid off and finance a complete repaint with something good. I don't know what else to do. It's gotta be the worst paint I've seen short of latex put on with a roller.

I can relate to you guys when I bought my truck I didnt have it long and I noticed it didnt take hardly anything to nick the paint especially rocks I talked to dodge about the problem and they said basically pound sand but so far no bubbling but my friend has a new 4-runner and that paint is almost indestructible I wish they would work on their paint jobs

I noticed a little discoloration on top of my cab last summer and then in Oct. a paint area about 2 feet square blew right off at the car wash. Since then it is growing daily. I have two-tone Dark Green sides and Silver hood & top. I'll probably strip and shoot the top... and hope it doesn't spread!

Revenge

These are the things that you consider when choosing your next truck or car supplier. This is your only satisfaction. And they wonder why they loose customers. Oo.

I got DC to kick in for a repaint on my 96 with 120K. It is the flame red and the horizontal surfaces were bubbling and cracking.

I had to pay for removal of the front and rear windows and cover a $500 deductible. The dealer painted the truck from the molding strip up. It was better than an Earl S. paint job and considering the paint was really degrading quickly over a 6 month period.

They said is was warranteed for life! That I'll have to see, but it does look better than before.

I went in expecting to hear the standard "I can't help you you're out of warranty". However, they said they would repaint if I covvered the deductible and the window deal. Had a crack in the front window so that was not a big deal. Like always, plan on paying attention to detail, as they wanted to 'tape around the clearance lights' rather than remove them. I removed the 3500 and SLT badges so I'm a no name truck now.

It can be done even if out of warranty.

Good luck.

Good Job Redram!!

Was there a service bulletin or something that the dealer used as a reason or excuse to repaint yours? I am fixing to visit the dealer in Phoenix with the problem. What your dealer did for you would be just fine for me. Can you give any suggestions? Did they mention anything about a factory or zone hidden warranty? Will you come to Phoenix and talk to Luke Dodge for me? (Sorry. I got a little carried away there... )
