Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Bad PCM-codes on 02

After being once at the dealer for codes P 1694, 1693 and 1698, and clearing those once, the check eng. light came back on. First time it was cleared, and was told all's fine, but today-different story. They said I need a new PCM. The cost- around$750 part and labor!!! I did not expect that. I have little over 75000 mi. on the truck, so they said it's out of warranty. I'm paying for it I guess. I need the truck for work every day, so I have no choice. Anybody has any advise for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Ilian
