Just lately towing around 9000-10,000# gooseneck,TriDog on tow/econ, the transmission tries (I think) to shift way too soon into higher gear. This causes major loss of power and an awful waste gate burp. Only happens after an hour or so of city towing.

Gauges read:

Pyro max 700

Boost max 25

Water max 221

Anyone else have this problem or any ideas. I think a few things are possible. Maybe TriDog is too much for torque converter. Maybe Tridog wants more fuel than the pump can handle or maybe TriDog just stinks all together ;) .

Any ideas would be a help and thanks! :D

Yes I am actually. I shifted manually al the way home but it jumped pretty hard from 2nd gear up. Is this something you have had happen?

Thanks.

A friend had the same issue. The rpm's drop off very quickly in tow haul under load when it shifts to OD. His transmission guy said it the effect is similar to accelerating hard and abrubtly letting off the go peddle = turbo bark. If you lock out OD obviously the rpm drop is less severe from 2nd to 3rd.

The transmission guy said this happens quite often, but if you have the stock intake you cant hear it. Yes mine has done it too, I am stock except AFE 2 and MBRP muffler, and Kore Chase.

Well it didn't happen today. Just to recap. I turned tow/haul off so it shifts into O/D normally. I didn't drive that much like I did the other day. Thanks for the info. I just wonder if there is any answer for it. Is it ECM programming or a weak transmission? Who knows , I guess I will have to keep experimenting with different downloads or no download at all. I do admit the power from the TriDog is addictive. It is amazing what a difference it makes. I just don't want to cook something in the pursuit of power.
