Bad Smell

I get a bad smell when I stop at a light with my fan or a/c on. It smells like gear oil. My rear is not leaking. I also have the air breather hose extension to middle of the bed. Any ideas what the smell can be?It makes my wife sick,I don't enjoy the smell myself. Can't wait to read the replys. Thanks!

Is it only right after you change the engine oil?

No I have almost 10,000 miles on the oil. If I turn off the fan before I stop I don't smell it.

Could be your A/C evaporator core which is in cased behind the dash with the blower motor. Sometimes leaves and dirt get inside and build up then when it sweats from the a/c running it causes mildew. Just a thought, let us know. Heater cores can leak causing smell as well. Hope this helps

Thank you to everyone that replyed. I found the cause of the smell. My lower valve cover gasket in the very rear of engine is leaking. Ordered upper and lower gasket. Hope this helps someone out.
