I have this heavy almost comp box looking cloud all the time. Stock sept a power puck timing box so far. .

First noticed it after a couple of tanks of exxon, Yeah I knew better.

cleaned the IAT first no help

crawled under and felt up all the boots no leak far as I can tell

reset the apps a couple of times no help

Ran countless tanks of good fuel with good attitive standyne, amsoil fuel power no help

Acording to my scanner intace air temp stays bettween 120- 100 while underway in nomal conditions seems like it is working.

boost shoots up to 21-22 and then defuels like nomal so the MAP must work

No codes not sure about fuel press but it must be good for all the smoke.

Am I missing any thing ? ARRRGH

puck never smoked before sept maybe a little puff in bettween gears and now it puffs all the time

ripping my hair out...

EDIT oh almost forgot two fuel filters and no change

air filter stays clean

I would assume that you have checked the air filter but if you have not, do that next. What does the truck do with the puck off?

Rivercat,

I've got the same problem - but comes and goes - sometimes no smoke, others alot - with an EZ and HO motor. MPG is not good or bad - 17 in town and 13. 5 pulling a 10K trailer. No real unloaded HW readings.

I've looked hard at the IAT - even wired in a pot to vary the air temp as high as 160 degrees on the fly - should have really caused a defuel but had no effect. Also looked at the MAP, boost leaks, and everything.

I'm leaning toward a bad injector? Going to swap for some RVs and see if it clears up. Will be watching to see what you determine is your problem.

rv are ok but I would spend the money and go with dons 1. 5s or 1. 6s even better at 5 hp and 50 less egts

Im leaning towrds big mach 4s and a b1 but might stay conservative and go with the 1. 6s and catcher for low end could I have a flappy wastegate problem

boost a WOT only hits 20 at say 2100 at the earliest

havn't tryed with the puck off bout can't stand that

Agreed but I want to see if the smoke gets worse or better before deciding to spend more money.

did you check the wastegate?

on a 02 you must have a hy35

a wastegate sticking open would cause the smoke and bad MPG

just a though

Need more info.

EGTs would be a valuable piece of info. in trouble shooting this issue. are you reading the boost on the scan tool,or a pressure guage. Do both see if the readings match.

both

but the scan tool is in %HG what is that goes from around 40 to 68 at full boost

is there a conversion to psi?

Gman

I thought hys were only on autos and mine is a 6speed with a elbow not a turnbuckle

H and P

at what times do you want to know the egt and I will go do it and write it down to post
