I have only been a member for a few months now and have noticed an occuring trend on alot of the posts. I have noticed that most of you guys do not like the DC dealers that you bought your truck from. I myself did alot of research on the subject of service before I bought my truck new in the summer of 98. I have had exellent service and suport from my dealer their service is great and the salesman that I bought my truck trough has been really great about asking if I have any problems every time I'm at the dealer. I have had two recalls on my truck and the dealer got my truck in and out in a day and fixed the problems correctly the first time. I have had waranty work done with no arguments or hassels and they have never said anything about my fueling box, 275hp injectors, or BHAF. The dealer doesn't have a diesel tech but will gladly pay for you to go to Cumberland Cummins for the engine work.

I wrote this just for those that my be looking at the TDR while trying to decide on buying a cheby, ford, or dodge. Not all DC dealers are stupid and know nothing idiots and not all dodge trucks have bad front ends and poor craftsmanship. My truck and my dealer have been great no problems out of either of them.

Thanks DC and thanks Gerdons for a great truck and exellent service.

Lucky You..........

I haven't been so lucky. The dealers out here are in it for the money. Once they sell the truck they beg you to fill out DC's questionaire with all tens. Might lose that wonderful 5 star rating otherwise. Then thats the last you hear of them.

I've been to 4 different dealers in my area and not a one has a decent deisel tech. After hanging out on the TDR for a few months I have a better understanding of the mighty Cummins than they do.

Now I have to admit I'm lucky in that I have had very few problems with my truck. But when I have had to take it in I've always been dissapointed.

Sorry for the long rant,

Garrett

Oh and my experience with Ferd and Cheby dealers hasn't been any better.

Although my history with my dealer is not very long, I have been quite happy with the service they have provided. They also provide free oil changes for life as part of the sale. I bought from Broadway Dodge in Denver.

I'm reasonably happy with Wiesner Dodge in Tomball, TX. They serviced our V-10 3500 since 1997, and we were satisfied enough with them that we bought my wife's 2000 Durango and the 2002 3500 from them. These guys aren't perfect - they're human and have screwed up a time or two, but they always were up front about it and wanted to make it right. They even called me out to the shop to show me where a mechanic had dropped a wrench and scratched the paint (very minor) on my 1996 3500 that was in for a warranty failure of the original battery - they offered to repair the damage, and when I refused, they offered a pretty sizeable "credit" for future parts or service purchases. Frankly, they could have just kept their mouths shut and I probably would never have noticed the minor scratch - if I did, I'd probably have figured that I did it myself while messing with the truck! Don't know that you can really expect much more than that today.

I have had nothing but trouble with DC and most of their dealers, not all of them, just most of them. I love my truck and it runs good now that I fixed it myself with the input of members from TDR. Thanks to everyone on this board for your help, even the ones that gave me ---t, after all without diversity this world would be a boring place.

If it wasn't for the TDR I would have traded my truck by now. I now love the way my truck performs and wouldn't consider trading unless someone gave me one hell of a deal.

P. S. DC jerked me around so bad I will never take my truck to a chrysler dealer if I can fix it myself or take it to cummins. What DC gained in revenue from takeing my warranty away they will never make up for in lost revenue from selling me parts and chargeing me labor to fix things.

My opinions are from lifes experiences, with no experiences, no opinions. Blah,Blah,Blah.

I've got nothing but great things to say about Eddie Cordes Dodge here in Lawton, Oklahoma. With out a doubt one of the best service departments around and you couldn't ask for a diesel tech then Phil who's been there over 20 years!

I was talking to a millwright at work the other day, trying to get him to check out the website for info. He said when he took his 2001 in to the dealer for an oil change that the "diesel technician" said "that Cummins is real easy to hop up, you just put a plate in it and turn up the timing". After our conversation, I don't think he'll be taking it back there anymore...

Dc doesn't

Own the dealerships. They are privately owned companies that thrive on sales and service after the sale. I chose the dealer with whom I deal on the value of their sevice department, period. My old '79 Trailduster lost a distributor magnetic pickup, and it took three days and 6. 5 hours of hot/cold testing labor to determine that the pickup failed when hot. I was charged the labor time to replace the mag pickup plus the price of the pickup coil, six hours under the actual labor time. I have since purchased a '99 QC Diesel and an '01 Durango from this dealership. In fact, I now work for them. We treat customers like our livelyhood depended on it. We give away labor and sometimes parts just to keep customers happy. We run a free shuttle service from 7:45 till 6:00 to enable customers to leave their vehicles for service. We encourage full and comprehensive discussions between customers and service techs to explain repairs and diagnoses. We enjoy service business from as far away as the Dakota's because of our reputation.

My point is; choose your dealer as wisely as your wife, and equally important, treat your service writer like you should: with respect, courtesy and a calm demeanor. Nothing is more wasted than energy spent in anger.
