Hi guys,

I have a 98 2500 4x4 5 spd. 12v w/reg cab with 108,000mi. and i have one heck of a vibe on the highway at 60 and above, but it only get it after driving down the highway for at least 2 miles and then it really starts to shake! the whole truck shakes and i can look over at the passenger seat and rear bed and watch it shimmy!! I have basically done just about everything i know and replaced everything on this truck that i can think of including 2 new set of tires and 4 sets of rear drums. I am totally lost and i am almost fed up with it. I am gonna tear apart the transmission and transfer case this weekend. Any thoughts or sugestions on what it might be? Anyone in northeast Ohio looking for a fun project this weekend and wanna help, because i need all i can get now?? I really can't afford to take it to the dealer and pay them thousands of dollars to try to diagnose the problem. I must add that when i had the new tires put on and when i ahve them rotated the rear brakes shimmy really bad until they get some more miles on them. i don't understand why it does that when ever you rotate or take off the rear tires. When i adjust the rear brakes they only rub in a certain spot not all the way around and it was like that with all 4 new sets of drums i got from 3 diff. stores?? well i am totally lost so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Couple things to take a look at. .

Rear shocks. . since it appears in the rear, if your shocks are bad, they could cause a reverberation which just grows due to lack of dampening.

Front suspension/steering... Have you checked your ball joints out? I thought mine were relatively good until I took an 8' steel bar to my tire while up on jackstands. Man did they move. Replaced my ball joints, truck drives much differently. Tie rod ends can change alignment enough to start a death wobble. . Good place to start is by changing your steering stabilizer, if it hasnt been done yet.

A lotta guys here have felt the death wobble, some havent got rid of it. . There is a set of alignment numbers on here somewhere that can help with the wobble, I havent tried it myself though. .

good luck
