A buddy of mine has a 06 6 speed with 50k miles on it. Bought it new and uses hauling cars. It has acquired had vibration it it very noticeable at idle and also going down the road. Doesn't matter if clutch is in or out. Almost feels like a flywheel with a weight missing. . I mean it's really annoying constant shaking. We really don't know much about the new dual mass flywheel or it's components. We was thinking maybe a bust pilot bearing. . What do you guys think or can anyone relate to this issue. Thanks in advance... :) Also need cummins part # for the Jacobs vaccum pump which has went south. . #@$%!

Well, can't help you out on the vibration, but the cummins part number for the vacuum pump is 3965925. --Eric

Check the harmonic balancer & see if the rubber is coming out or if it wobbles any. It probably is the pilot bearing or the front bearing in the transmission input shaft, but check the obvious first. I have a balancer on the shelf if you need one [cheap] let me know... . I found a jacobs vac pump for my brothers 04. 5 & it was alot cheaper... . I'll pm you his number.

On the vaccum pump call MidSouth Cummins. They had new pricing on the pump that was significantly less then the dealers. Do a search on vaccum pumps to find the previous threads to find the new price. HTH.

I was just at Cummins Northwest today and was quoted about $90 for a new pump 3965925. I hear Dodge wants over $500.

It might not be related, but I picked up a new chadder type of noise :eek: on my 06 6speed this last week at 27000 miles. It turned out to be the transmission mount bolts had sherd. The fix turned out to be easy, about 30 minutes at a buddys(HRC) shop.

HRC=two thumbs up!

HRC definitely rules. Jason's a class guy!

SP,

Is the "secondary" loose on the primary? The secondary is piloted on the primary by a bushing. When the bushing wears it allows the secondary to orbit, and goes out of balance. Running test, trans in neutral, increase RPM, VIBRATION. When it is torn down, you can actually shift the secondary L to R, and when this happens the secondary goes off center and VIBRATION. This would then be basically the same as the D-Max DMF failure mode. Can you get a picture of the center with the bushing?

DITTO on that... Exactly what happened. . You can run without trans in it and that DMF is shaking very bad. I have out out in the floor right now. Be glad to get some pictures of it. . Just trying to decide how much were going to drop for a good clutch and flywheel setup. . :--)
