This is just a quick question. How do you feel about balancing trailer tires? Is it needed or not? Almost all trailers you see do not have the tires balanced. This includes campers, and utility trailers.

Personally I have the trailer tires balanced. I have been told and agree with the idea that it helps with tire life (wear issues), and that it helps reduce the stresses in the spindle bearings (caused by any vibration).

I agree with the gentlemen above. I have always balanced mine.

I balanced all four of my tires on the trailer. Then when I got

back to the house all the weights were gone. Visited with the gentlement who sold me the trailer , he said don't balance them. I guess it just a personal issue.

Just a side note on balancing, My grandpa would always wait a week or so after mounting a tire on a rim to balance it. When I asked why he said "The tire needs to settle onto the rim for the balance job to hold true". Well I wasnt to sure about that untill one day I put four new tires on my truck and had them balanced. I marked the center of each weight on the tire sdewall and drove home. When I got home all four tires hade spun on the rim. The rears in the direction of acceleration torque and the fronts in the direction of braking torque. ------- After a day and the soap lub they used to mount the tire with dried up, the movement stopped. Guess grandpa knew his stuff. Bill
