I put on my new Rickson wheels and tires yesterday and decided that I had better look at my front end componets. I found what I already knew to be the case. All four ball joints have considerable play and the drag link? ( steering box to right tire) has some play in it. I did some research and here are the part number that I came up with. Please add to these numbers with additional sources and warranty.

Federal Mogul

TRW subsidiary of FM

Upper ball joint with adjustable camber part # 104342

Drag link (right hand connection) DS 1464

Inner tie rod end ES3624

Outer tie rod (right)DS1463

Outer tie rod (left) ES3625

Adjusting sleeve ES3626S

Note all except ball joints are listed in Moog or TRW with same part #

Napa

upper ball joint NCP 2601580 $114. 00

lower ball joint NCP 2601579 $87. 49

I also found Sway bar bushings from Advanced Auto and TRW.

Does any one know if Moog has them out yet with the lifetime warranty?

What is the price of the DC parts/cost?

Thanks for your help

Bryan

I got those same prices from napa on their perfect circle ball joints.

I decided to go with mopar ones as I got them cheaper. $75 for the uppers and $60 for the lowers from www.tenaflyjeepmoparparts.com

Hopefully by the time these go there will be a good greaseable lifetime balljoint out on the market

Thanks CIverson

By chance do you know the part numbers for the DC upper and lowers? I would love to wait on the Moog joints, but I do not want to put my safety in jeopardy in the mean time.

No, but if you go to the website I posted you can find them in the factory parts catalog, in mechanical parts. Or just call them up. They sell below what most dealers do, which is why they were cheaper than the aftermarket ones.

hey guys you might check out a place called xrf auto parts. I called them about a year ago and asked them about 3rd gen ball joints and tie rod ends, they said they didn't have them yet but they should have them in about 3 months. I had just rebuilt my front end on my 1998 2500 4x4 with parts from moog and mopar that i got a real good deal on (10% over cost). he quoted me some prices for the 2nd gen trucks and they were quite a bit less than what i paid. they make parts for big rigs that only see pavement when they are unloaded off the trailer and rarely get lubricated. they started to make replacement parts for pickups a few years ago. check out their web site (xrfautoparts.com) or give them a call. looks like high quality parts and the people are very friendly

I replaced the inner tie rod end my self and it took a lot of the slop out of my steering. I took a careful measurent to be sure I got it back to the same length. I need to get it in and get the ball joints and have it aligned. Who knows, maybe it will be like it was the first 50,000 miles.
