2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Ball Joint Question

I just recently went threw this with the ball joints for my truck, according to all but one parts house i went to the lower ball joint is a non replaceable item,

this was told to me time after time by the people at advance, autozone and napa and a few other parts house's, finally after 2 or 3 days of looking I found a parts house that said they could get one special order from TRW, sp after waiting 4 days, I got the ball joint and looks just like the orginal one, except not wore out, was just wondering if anyone else has ran into this.

The part number for the ball joint i installed was TRW 104277.

i got mine through my local napa dealer with no problem... they are definately a replaceable item i dont konw why they said they wern't

Doesn't make any sense. They are replacable. . about $60 a side for Spicer ball joints.

my truck is 2002, even DC said it was not replaceable, said i had to buy a complete lower control arm for around $375, and that was not the answer i was looking for, mainly because i am tight with what little money i have and also because i just bought the truck, so money was a little tighter.

I mainly posted this so other owners of 02 model trucks that needed lower ball joints would have another choice besides replacing the complete lower assy

on my 02 i had both upper and lower ball joints replaced at 40k, and get this i got Dodge to do it under warrenty. .

I have only 2002 with only 37,000 miles and told i need uppers and lowers. What did you do to get warrenty?

Well my truck was only 2 years old at the time, so i was still under 3 years, and the problem i had (squeaking coming from front end) iwas convinced that the problem started before the 36k, the problem was also misdiagnosed at 37k they thought it was the powerboost steering/brake hoses and they were wrong. so i got another dealer to diagnose that it was balljoints, but since they did the hoses underwarrenty the dealer said that they couldn't do the balljoints under warrenty which just really made me ****** off, so to make a long story short i called up Dodge Head quarters complained big time telling them if they didnt do it i was going to sell the truck and never buy another dodge. , I got a case numebr, and 2 days later was told all i had to paywas a 100$ deductable. . Now im not sure if this is going to work for you cause its now 4 years old. , but its worth it to try. good luck
