While checking over my truck today, I noticed that the left lower ball joint looked shifted over. I jacked up the wheel and there is about an 1/8 of an inch of play in the joint. The other three joints look ok. I am supposed to leave on a

hunting trip to Colorado in two days. This is about an 1100 mile trip one way.

My question is: Is it safe to drive this truck the way it is? I would like to do the job myself when I get back. Money is a bit of an issue right now. I really don't have the time to tear into it right now if I plan on leaving on time.

Any expediant replies would be appreciated.

The freeplay limit is . 031 inch. So you are out of spec by 3 times the limit. Personally, I wouldn't chance it. It could make a good trip very ugly. Hope this helps. :(

I found a shop that will fit me in tomorrow fortunately. I didn't feel real good about driving it that distance. Next time I won't wait till the last minute to check the truck out.

Thanks for the quick reply.
