The time to change ball joints is coming and I would like some real world feed back on what is working. I was leaning towards the Moog greaseables but I am hearing they do not last as long as the AA originals. What else is out there and where is a good place to purchase? TIA

I have the Moog greasables on my 2nd gen. truck and they work great. The trick is that YOU DO have to gease them every time you grease the front end, I grease them every 6000-7500 miles. A quick note, there is a special slide fitting you will have to get to grease the top ball joints on both sides. 5 years ago when I replaced mine, I had to go through my snap on dealer. I think you can buy them at the local parts store now.

I was hoping for a little more feedback. After some poking around on the net it appears that Spicer make a ball joint for these trucks. Anyone using them? I'd like to hear from some of you that have a lot of use on the replacements.

I installed the Moog uppers & Lowers approx. 20k ago. I grease them about every 6k. Trouble free so far (AAM originals lasted almost 40K)

I put the Mopar's back on but found out after the fact that spicer makes them for our axles. Rockauto has them. Been told they are holding up pretty good. I got 80k out of factory so we'll see if it goes that long again.

I replaced the factory ball joints with moog. They lasted about 20k. When I went to get the 3rd set moog had done a redesign or something and they had a different part number than the first set of moog. I have about 30k on the 3rd set and they're still tight as the day I put them in. Uppers are offset for camber adjustment.

I was hoping to get a set that are not adjustable but greaseable. So far I have not found any. I am planning to change them myself and than get an alignment. How difficult is it for the alignment shop to adjust them after they are installed?

MOOG Greasable Lower Ball Joints

Just a quick FYI, the MOOG Part #K7467 (lower) ball joints are on national backorder, and the vendors are not sure when new shipments will come in (estimated 1-2 months).



Just something to keep in mind as you are ordering... . I had ordered the uppers, and am waiting to see what will happen with the lowers. May just go with the Spicer instead.

Had my 04. 5 done at alignment shop. Used NAPA greaseable with lifetime warranty. Also had U joints done, $1200. 00.

The adjustables are not hard to align provided you can find a front end guy that's worth a plug. The prevalent attitude around here "it's in spec" which doesn't mean jack. Many with the "in spec" mind set won't put forth the extra effort to adjust them which is saying something cause it's really not hard. I had one shop tell me flat out "we can't do it" actually claiming lack of ability/how to knoledge. That kinda blew my mind.

My Moog adjustable and greaseable joint went in around 20K ago. Noprobs yet. Truck steers soooo much better and smoother. Didn't realize how bad the factory ones were until the Moogs went in.

No special fitting required.
