I'm having a hard time locating lower ball joints for my truck. It has 139,000 miles on it, and it's time.

I called Moog and all they have are uppers.

Anyone replaced the lowers?

I'm with the op.....when it comes to ball joints....if I'm doing one, I'll do both, and any other "wear" items. I learned that the first time I replaced ball joints on my 86.....I did all the joints, but I didn't replace the diff seal that was 15 years old. Low and behold, after I was done the seal was leaking. So I got to take it all apart again AND remove the carrier to get to that one seal next to the carrier bearings.

But I suppose if you do it all the time, and have access to good tools....it's probably not as big of a deal to perform that job.

Our trucks are hard on uppers but not so much on lowers. With the replace it while you are there theory-where do you stop? Bearings, seals, axles?

On my 15 year old (at the time) off road truck that was used hard, my wear items were bearings (before unit bearings mind you), hub seals, u-joints, ball joints and axle seals. None of those things are terribly difficult to replace or expensive (except the ball joints) but they are time consuming to get to.

I run as a hot shot, I'll be home Sunday and have a appointment at the shop on Monday to look at it. I was just trying to have all my ducks in a row.*

I just installed a set of XRF ball joints in my 13 so far I'm happy. The truck has never felt better. I plan on trying out thier million mile warranty..... As for you'r truck check with or XRF Carli. I have had really bad luck with Moog.

Nobody seems to be producing the lowers for the newer trucks yet. You are stuck with OE if it needs them.
