The Moog ball joints are exactly same as OEM Dodge same # and casting.

JUNK! The next time the hubs will come because I put a ton of Neever Sieze on them. It will be 700 cheaper.

... and where did YOU find Moog ball joints???

hey guys ,(and gals)

I found a source for ball joints, tie rod ends, track bars for 2nd generation trucks and when i last spoke to them (about six months ago) they said they would probably have them in a few months for the 3rd generation trucks. the prices they quoted me for the

2nd generation trucks were really good, alot better than i was able to get for moog parts

at dealer price through part stores. . their name is XRF auto parts @ xrfautoparts.com

ball joint problems

I can see the wonder children @ DC are up to it again from their RD department what morons :-laf :-laf this why I can see people really losing it and taking these people to court over this crap. It is unfourtuanate that the dealer gets blunt of someones fury over this, like these trucks $5800 more than a gas motor and another $4500 for the Laramie package I wish I can say ford and chevy are a lot better but thier not they all have issues MATT 2004. 5 RAM 3500 Dually 4X4 laramie with to much to list

slomodiesel,

I spoke to the people at www.xrfautoparts.com and was impressed with their operation. Sounds like they build a very high quality replacement part however the ball joints for the 03 & newer 4x4 are not available yet. No date was given but they encouraged a call back for follow up. It wouldn't hurt to call them and express you interest. (810) 388 1410 Another site that will be up soon is www.offroadjunky.com where they will be promoting there products and have a forum there. Thanks for the tip on that company.

Interesting info I learned about this issue, seems DC has now come up with a spec for the amount of slop allowable, . 090" on the lowers and . 060" of free-play on the uppers  holy smokes! Thats a ton of movement.

Thanks for the info Matt. I was going to ask what the spec is. I see in the manual that it is . 020" for the 2WD trucks, but no spec for the 4WDs. I had mine in to the dealer today and they said mine are "within spec". Told me spec was . 060".

100 Proof

Had to replace my ball joints at 203k. Went to the local NAPA dealer and was told the joints that were being ordered were spicers with grease zerks but when I picked them up they were hecho en Mexico! No zerks and definitely not spicer. I think it was NAPA's in house brand but they were only $217 a side and they work great so far.

What is covered under the 7 70
To name some stuff:

  • Differentials
  • Drive lines
  • Transfer case
  • Transmission

Engine also on the Gassers however the CTD has its own warranty.

Ball joints are in a suspension/steering/chassis category and are 3/36

Also 7/70 ended with 05's so 06 owners will get 3/36 same as most other manufactures.

Balljoints

Went on the Federal Mogul web site and they are listing 2003-4 upper balljoints with ajustable camber. Moog Part#K7448 Or TRW#104342

I wonder if they made them greasable?

A friend of mine put OEM joints in at 72K and they are now toast again in 23K

We'll find out. I'm going to order a pair as soon as Rock Auto get's 'em in their catalog.

What about Moog?? There is a thread about the new ball joints from Moog. If I was computer smart I could put the link here, however I am not :{

Wow!

Right. Rock Auto just got them in their catalog. Moog #K7448 adjustable upper ball joints... $93 EACH! Is that normal for ball joints (bearing in mind Rock Auto is usually very cheap)? Description doesn't indicate whether they're greaseable.

Did anybody notice the TRW ball joints for 03-04 on the Federal Mogul web page say they're for a Dana 60? Has anybody actually put these new Moog's on yet?

Has anyone had chrysler try to resolve the issue??

I'm getting annoyed with my truck. I've had 8 ball joints, 3 tie rods, and a steering box within 32,000 miles. I just had the last set done, and I think there is something else wrong, because it is starting to wonder again!

Is there anyway the leveling kit could be affecting this??

I would also wonder about my 315's, but the first set went out before they were ever on.

What is the best way to file complaints and get this issued handled?

I put the moog joints in mine last week, they are adjustable as well as greaseable. That is my second set of ball joints installed. I am getting about 30000 to 35000 miles out of the ball joints. I dont know if the moog joints are any better or not yet.
