Needing ball joints, was looking on rock auto, and they list a set from Raybestos, 5001117 upper and 5051311 lower, which seems to match up with the spicer numbers. Are the raybestos made by spicer, and are they any good?

not sure, but even though the manual calls for the adjustable ball joints do not get them, get the non adjustable ones, people been having hard time getting them adjusted with camber and caster... ... .

yeah, I'm definitely wanting nonadjustable and greaseable... just trying to figure out if the 'raybestos' brand from rock auto is made by spicer.

Carli Ball Joints

Have you guys seen the Carli Ball Joints? Pricey, but a lifetime fix. The lowers should be out next month. I think it's against the rules for me to post a link to them on our site here.

he Carlie lowers will be out late nov. wish i could wait that long but i have to do something soon In talking with them they said they have see the moog joints fail pretty quick. i may try the rybestos lowers

I saw a cut apart Moog lower the other day ... It was very sad. It looked like maybe the ball itself had an imperfection during the casting phase there was a void in the bearing surface, the cup was worn and had a very notchy feel with just the preload I could put on it by hand

What does everyone think about offset ball joints to stop a truck from pulling to the right. The Dodge dealer says it's lined up and in specification. New tires too!

I've read that lots of people have problems with those. I don't know if the techs installing them just aren't sharp enough to get it right the first time or what.

You are going to have good and bad about every company. I went with Moog about 150k and I haven't had one problem out of them. The two things I recommend is 1) get ball joints that can be greased regularly, seeing is that is probably the biggest downfall to the stock units; 2) Make sure you grease them regularly. I grease mine every time I rotate my tires (600-7500 miles)

What size tires are you running?

I run 285/75/16 on aftermarket wheels that space everything out an inch to an inch and half. I used to run 295's on the old ball joints ( that may or may not have had an impact), but either way, I haven't had any problems out of the Moogs. Like I said, though, I keep them greased pretty regularly.
