Biker Build Off- Way Off!

Everyone needs one of these!!

Can anybody tell me what I'd be looking at ballpark for a 20x7 GN or 5er type flat deck equipment trailer? Looking in the ballpark of 10-15k capacity. I haven't really shopped for a new one yet, because I have been looking for and would prefer to find one used. Before I go out and sticker shock myself, I'd like to have an idea of what I'd be looking at cost wise. Also, is there any real difference in cost on trailers between a 5th wheel and goose neck?

Boy that was fast... . and that was less than I was expecting. Maybe I won't fall over from sticker shock if I start looking at new trailers. Thanks!

There were some new 102" wide x 24' long, 14k flatbed trailers here that sold at auction this past spring. Went for $4-4500. Tandem axle, singles.

I just picked up a 12,000 lb Big Tex Gooseneck last month - 20' deck with 5' fixed beavertail and 96" wide. I paid $4200.

I just got an "appalachian" trailer - expanded metal deck over neck ( "hayhauler" ) 20' + 4' popup self cleaning dovetail, 102". Cost 4100$. I got it "local" drove out to salem ohio to look at them. Then again to pick it up.

I am not full time- just an occasional convience hauler for my own machine. There are better out there. the structure is sound, the welds and deck are good, brakes on both axles ( if you see a manufacturer making brakes on one axle as an option- STAY AWAY ), dexter 7K slipper spring axles. This is a low end trailer- but has the features I need. Paint is cheap, the wiring is minimal- plan to rewire in a year when the salt gets into the scotchlocks. The ramps are stored in trays under the dovetail, the popup has no spring assist and are heavy.

If you use a trailer a lot- things that I could not justify for the few times I will use them you may want to think of these. Two speed jacks ( if you hook and unhook a lot if time=money) Double jacks ( if the lost 50Lb payload and cost is worth the more stable parked platform) spring assist popup, or foldup full width or three ramps to make it flat in the back. The deck over neck adds weight but deckspace when you want to keep the wheelbase length reasonable ( don't do on a shortbed).

Thanks again. I've never towed with a over axle type hitch, but from all I have read they are the way to go. The one I have right now I don't really care for and would like to get something a little better (current trailer is a 8k bumper pull). I may have to make it work for a while, but at least I know how much I've got to pocket before I can go looking for a new one.
