Anyone out there used this "Balls of Steel" quick change hitch ball mount? Looks pretty cool, and its exacly what I need. Any info? Let me know. Thanks,

I have one, I think it is the roto-eze brand. It's a nice setup and works great. Here are some of the drawbacks though: The entire unit is solid steel which is good, but this thing is heavy, approx 40-45 lbs. The ballmount that slides into the receiver is to long (puts the ball far back of the truck) and helps give the trailer leverage to push down on the back of the truck. There is some side to side play as well as up and down due to all the adjusting pins. You need 4 locks for the pins to keep the unit from being stolen. It is expensive.

Would I but another? Not sure, I used to cary 3 ballmounts for each size. Not that big of a deal.

You might have a look at the Convertaball product. Most accessory places have it. It consists of a one inch shank and three drilled out balls that lock to the shank with an integral pin. You can change ball sizes without tools or taking your ballmount out of the reciever. I bought the complete system for sixty bucks, and also purchased two extra shanks for my other ballmounts. This way I have all three ball sizes in 2, 4, and 6 inch drop. This product is signifigantly cheaper if you opt for the chrome version instead of the full stainless set that I opted for. Both versions are rated for 10,000 lbs.

I also have a Roto-Eze ball mount. I love it. So convienient and very strong. My wife got rearended towing a horse trailer. The hitch was pushed in like a V and stopping at the spare tire (which also had to be replaced. Didn't even leave a scrach on the Roto-Eze. It's all solid steel and even with a 6 inch drop it still rates my 2 and 5/16 ball at 10,000lbs. Best $199. 00 I ever spent.

I have had the Convert-A-Ball set with the 1-7/8,2,2-5/16 balls for about 10 years now and they are very easy to use. Just bought a new set in Stainless so my balls won't rust. Purchased them through AW Direct 800/243-3194 cost was about $70 (no tax in OR) They also sell the Roto-Eze products from $100 to $260 in price.

Thanks guys, I got the Roto EZE - what a unit. Best part is, the shop I bought it from screwed up on the price - lets just say I got a great deal on this thing. Didn't realize it till later. Sure keeps people from tailgating.
