Ok, what are the band adjustment procedures for my 47RE? I know where they are, just want to know the specs for adjusting them.

I seem to remember being told 76 in-lbs on both and then back the one on the drivers side off 2 turns and the one inside off 3 turns.

That sound right?

Thanks, Josh

copied from a friend

The front band adjustment is actually quite forgiving. It is 72 " lbs in and back off 2 turns. The method i use is ; with a 1/4 inch allen wrench between the front servo pin and the apply lever. This is slightly looser than factory specs.

The rear band is not so forgiving, it must be torqued to 72 inch lbs in and backed off 3 turns . If the rear band is set loose the rear servo will actually roll over in the bore causing pressure leaks and rear band failure.

Thank you Mr. Wagner! :)

Ya know, you're the first guy that ever responded to me on here, and it was about who to buy a Comp box from... guess who gets all my business now? :) In fact, just ordered a box for my roommate's '03 from Rip the other day.

Thanks again, Josh

tighter bands

research. might be useful.

3 turns is a lot.

You might want to look into the specs in a shift kit like the transgo.

most performance settings for the outer band adjustment 1st gear is 1 3/4. and 2-3 band inside 2 - 2 1/2

Not to bash on your experiences, but for my transmission I'm gonna go w/ the guy who built it... I know the turns are correct, coming from Bill K. himself the last time my friend was there getting his transmission tuned up by Bill, and Bob reaffirmed those numbers... what I wasn't sure about was the torque spec of 72 or 76 inch pounds... .

By the way, I FINALLY got rid of the 3-4 shift "sudder upon lockup" that I'd been having... I'm attributing it 100% to cheap fluid! Bands are set almost identical to where they were when I took the pan off, maybe a slight bit tighter now, and I managed to strip out a pan-bolt, but no leaks due to it... yet... . what a great day.
