Bang,Bang,Bang....Black smoke!

I really need some help here fellas,



I started the truck today and I have a HUGE miss, lots of black smoke, and a bang, bang, bang, sound that is irregular in rhythm. The oil is good, the exhaust brake is not stuck, the diesel dynamics box is plugged in, I have 8 lbs of fuel pressure at idle. I really don't know what the problem is but I'm supposed to pull my 5th wheel to Oregon in a couple of weeks hunting and I have to get this figured out.





Please help, I sure need it right now...

Very cool! I started up with banging and white smoke, but was not as lucky as you.

What was your problem R-N-R? Today while comming to a stop I noticed very heavy white smoke and engine idle was missing/ rough. I pulled over and shut down and truck would not start for some time. When it did start the white smoke cleared up after a while and all seemed normal. Went to Auto Zone to have the codes read and came up with 1693 and 0388(crank position voltage too high) I still think that the injector pump is getting ready to take a dump. Good fuel pressure and engine temp. normal. Un hooked the pump wire to the comp box. Any body have any ideas? Thanks

I blew a valve seat into the cylinder. Check out the post and the carnage. My problem seems to be a rare anomoly.
