I am going to installing Rays Banjo Bolts and need some insight... Can somebody tell me exactly where each of the bolts are located? Also which bolt location is the best for installing the tapped bolt for the fuel pressure gauge? One last question, what is the proper torque for these bolts?

Thanks for your input,

Doug S.

Jetpilot,

I suggest following your fuel line back from the injection pump and swapping them as you go. Your first line runs from the injection pump to the bottom of the filter canister. Replace the banjos at both ends of this line. Use the special one tapped for the gauge at either spot, probably easiest at the injection pump.

The next line is a shorty from the back (toward rear of truck) and top of you filter canister which jumps down to your lift pump. Have fun with this one. I ended up removing the 2 retaining bolts for the filter canister so I could maneuver it and reach the line easier. Finally, the last one replaces the bolt for the fuel line coming into the lift pump that comes from the tank.

As far as torquing, I will consult my manual and see if I can find it.

eric , if you saw the 2 side by side you would see that they make a difference ...

the holes in the factroy bolts are . 125 and the center holes is 9/32 , rays bolts are . 187 and 5/16 ... when i moded my bolts i went . 200 and 21/64 for the center hole ...

another thing that needs to be addressed is the banjo fittings themselves between the lift pump and the fuel filter , the id of the hole in the barb is only 3/16 , its stuck in a line with an id of 5/16 , unfortunately you can only increase this hole to 9/32nds this alone is a big improvement ... . then there is the fuel filter housing  ...

yes eric , find a place that does hydralic lines , they should be a parker fitting dealer , the hydralic equiv is JIC 6 , get swept 2 90's and to straight connectors and they have a line that will work fine , its similar to the areoquip push lock and only i think 1. 88 a foot , the biggest expense will be the adaptors to go from the 12x1. 5mm threar to the -6an , get those from earls or arequip , about 9 bucks a pop , total will be about $100 , 50 of it the adaptors , or if you feel brave you could just droill and tap your fuel filter housing for 1/4 npt , thats my next move .

if you have a hard time finding the fittings and lines , drop me a line and i can set you up , i bought 10 feet of the line and only need 2 feet , i have most the fittings on hand also .

wit hthe banjos completly gone i never see less than 5 psi , foot on the radiator eclipsing the century mark , carter 15psi pump in the stock location ... i need to move the pump rearward though ...

John,

Are you sure that bit you used to drill out the banjo fittings were 9/32"? We drilled out

*ICEMAN*'s last Sat. and it looked looked 7/32" or maybe 15/64" was about as big as you'd want to go. BTW we drilled the schaeders to the specs you gave me this past summer and it worked like a charm.
