It's coming out soon. What do you guys think... ... ... would you install one? What about the thrust washer, and the fact that it has been upgraded on the 06's? And are all Cummins ready for the brake right from the factory... ... ... . as for the engine itself? No need to update valve springs? Thanks.

Rather think that Bank's has this thing pretty well thought out, but at the same time You will probably be your own warranty station. This is the cloud that hangs over these pre 06 trucks. One gambles on lots of things in this life, but some are worth it for safety.

We tell our customers that if their not interested in stepping up to a controller for the transmission... . that just the exhaust brake will be waste of money... . When you take your foot off the throttle the transmisson's computer drops the pressure in the torque converter... . this dropped pressure allows the torque converter to slip... . you only than get about 15-20% of the rated retarding HP... ...

If you install the kit on the 48RE, the controller will interface with the transmissons computer and will force it to hold the fluid pressure and pass the power onto the engine to absorb..... This kit alone is about 560. 00 but than makes your exhaust brake very usable... . and you won't have any problems with Dodge on the exhaust brake... . just the transmission installed kit... . This kit is all wiring... . no mechanical connections, fluid lines, or anything in the transmission.....

Hope this helps..... BTW - look at the retarding HP of the C44045 at www.pacbrake.com you might be surprised at the numbers..... and the RPM range that it functions at... .

Banks Brake is a in-line installation, any were in winter county will cause issue"s. T&C does Not Promote the Brake from Banks Do to its Location. The PRXB will work on 06(Standard Brake is available for 06) ,it is not certified from PAC unless you do a Trans Upgrade. (AUTO ONLY). T&C Has replace two BB because they would not operate correctly in the extreme cold ,sandy, salty conditions. . Both Customers were extremely ****** off,The RV dealership said they would Be fine up Here In Minnesota. . The RV dealership lost their Banks Authorization and the customer ONLY received credit for the Brake on warranty from Banks. . so buyer beware its that simple. . No complaint's Here on the PAC...

I know the BANKS Brake would operate fine in southern US. . or Areas that do not use chemicals or aggregate on roads.

What about the thrust washer?

They upgraded this on the 06's, will the old one do with the Banks Brake?

The '05s have the thrust washer upgrade. The only thing they lack compared to the '06 is the software to control the Jacobs brake approved by the factory.

Regrading the standard PacBrake,The installation is much easier than Banks, and hold"s Better,I wish Banks had a direct Bolt Brake like PAC & Jake, but their is a conflict with the Brake and Banks Exhaust & Intake. Pac will stand behind their Brake as far as warranty is concerned. No one can predict how a dealer will react to a superior product that is not authorized by the factory. . But if warranty is a issue with the owner stick with Jake, just be prepared to replace the pump, its the weak link in the Jake.
