Stupid bank. I had my tax money in my credit union to earn interest before I had to pay taxes, and when I got a credit union check and deposited it in bank of America, they put a hold on it until 4-24, even though the check cleared on 4-18 #ad
To make a long story short, my IRS check bounced because they would not release the hold, and they knew good and well the check was already good. I went to the branch and chewed out the manager pretty good. He kept trying to feed me a line of bull, and I slammed him on every (incorrect) point he tried to make, and told him I would be in touch if any penalties were charged to me by the gov't. Sorry for a long boring post but had to vent and advertise against them!!!

I have banked with BofA for MANY years, they USED to be a decent bank. But over the past few years, they have become VERY unfriendly and uncompetitive with other banks. I also bank with the local credit union - MUCH more customer-oriented and competitive. If it wasn't for the fact I have automatic deductions made from BofA for various bill-paying, as well as direct deposit from some income sources, I would drop them in a heartbeat and transfer ALL my banking elsewhere - but it's more hassle than it's worth so far... But conditions DO change... #ad

I like my bank pretty good. Of course I don't have as much money in there as I would like to have at times, but I like the service and first name basis. I guess you call it home town service,or is it small town service.

When Mom and I first got married we did a auto finance loan through BoA, we were the typical kids living "hand to mouth" and those lousy basturds would always say the check (payment) was no good. When we dug deeper the answer we got was "withdrawls are processed 24 hours a day, deposits are processed 8 hours a day"! Quit them 24 years ago and will not use their ATMs if I was starving!

I just got done yanking all of my accounts out of the bank I'd been with for 11 years. They kept screwing me with checking charges for their rediculious - and always increasing - minumum account balances. I never paid one of those charges because they were always wrong. I finally got sick of calling them to point out their errors. I switched all of my accounts to the bank down the street the day before I got my trailer loan. I even saved almost a full 1% on the loan! And no more idiotic minumums with the new bank (for now).

Been with them for many years, but if I find another (even with the hassels) that will be "stable, in various cities, etc" (other than CU's) will switch.

Small town banking - yes - BUTT they closed the branch last month in Grants. Now the "close" branch is 80+ miles away (small town? NOT). Yes, there are banks that: 1) do withdrawls before deposist (B O Hi was one) so they can get the charges from you; 2) do withdraws as they come in but only do deposits in the morn & aft (but "post" w/d immediately and deps after midnite). There are other "legal" tricks they use: post the w/d, charge the acct, then do the auto xfr from another account that you have "authorized" so you don't have this happen ( duh, didn't see the other linked acct till after I posted it). They want our $$ anyway they can get them (legally) and it really hurts the "small" banker.

Course, my biggests losses were with the 1st ex, she would call the bank and write cks for what they said was avail (each day), not realizing that the ck from yesterday hadnt cleared yet. 25$ chrg for 0. 10$ cks really sucks!!!! (yes, she did and not blonde either)

Just some other tricks to watch out for, I usually ask about how dep/wd are processed now. Still think CU's are the better way for us "small" depositers.

EDIT: had to "correct" spelling - AGN. Guess I cant type today <hehe>

Absolutly the worst bank that I have ever used. I had the good fortune to make sure that are company did not use them anymore some years ago. From what I hear thay have done nothing but get worse.

They suck. After they lost my deposit the 2nd time I'd had enough.
