Hey, has anyone out there tried the Banks Big Hoss kit that does not tap the pump wire on an H. O. yet? Also do you have to run their gauges only? Not looking for a rocket, just a kick in the seat with a little reliability! The rocket will come later. :p

Their gauges are designed to plug strait into the big hoss. You can use other gauges, I just don't think you will be able to hook them to the big hoss. How much are they charging for the tapless verision?

I just installed the BigHoss on my standard output truck. I used my AutoMeter gauges. There is an xtra set of wires coming out of the BigHoss to hook into there gauges you just leave it hang if you dont want it. If your not looking for a rocket get the Banks stuff... Im personally not real happy with the increase I got for $475. It feels like a good towing box but I think I was expecting more... . looking intosome injectors then a tried and true comp will follow, all this should be done by end of summer I hope.

Anyone else tried it with an H. O. ? I know everyone says that a standard Cummins reacts well to electronic mods and that a H. O. reacts better to injectors first off. Quality diesel performance in Bixby, Oklahoma is selling these on Ebay with a Buy it Now price of $426. 00. Everyone else seems to be close to $500. 00.

I had the Big Hoss on my truck for a while and it ran really really good. The only reason that i sold it was because when i did my injector change i needed a box that was adjustable and not a box that did it all by its self. The truck ran like a bat out of HE!! but i had a problem with it and the DD2 on cruise control. I don't think the box or the motor could tell the amount of fuel it was dumping into the engine so on hills it would pick up and then drop off trying to keep you at a constant speed. I had the one where you have to tap the pump wire so i might not be talking about the same one. If would not have changed my injectors i would have stayed with that box. I think the one i had was 160 hp and and 320ft-lbs.

If a box doesn't pierce the pump wire,, it's only good for a peak HP gain of 70HP.

If it does tap the pump wire, it's good for 120HP peak gain.

I don't really care who makes the box.

Merrick i was just talking about what the banks advertises. If your statement was true about hp numbers then all the performance boxes companies would have false advertisement. Banks with the Big Hoss on my truck was supposed to be 160hp. DD box is 150hp, and Edge is up there now as well. What i am saying is why would all these companies advertise False RWHP readings.

Also if your statement is true i will be disappointed when i do my dyno runs :(
