I have a banks big hoss box on my truck, it is the new one that dosent tap the pump. I have had it in for about 2 weeks now and I cant really tell much difference, My BD x Monitor is showing a Maxium of 21. 2 pounds of boost, does this seem right or should i be seeing more?

Could there be somthing else goin on that is making my truck seem down on power? I dont have a fuel guage yet but i will be getting it checked hopefully some time this week just to make shure my LP isnt going out on me? I also tightened all the clamps by the rubber boots.

if any one has any idea's i would like to hear them, thanks

I just dyno'd 641FT/lbs of TQ with my big hoss. . level-4. Banks advertizes 648FT/lbs with the entire powerpac and I've only got the box. I wouldn't say junk but I will admit there are alot of products out there that put out more power.

I can't speak to the issue of the quality of Banks electronic fueling boxes but my Banks Brake & 4" exhaust are top quality units.

Check in the product promotions for an adjustable boost elbow. I think the guy's name is Ron Troxall or something like that. If you can got your boost up into the high 20"s it will probably fuel more. Banks fuels when there is air, not the other way.

Thanks for the help so far guy's,

I am a little confused about the boost elbow, there was one in the box from banks that came with my Big hoss box, in the instalation instructions there is a spot that says to determine wich turbo charger i have, it says if your turbocharger is a HY35W it say's to skip the boost Modifier installation, there is a picture of the location it should be but i cant find it for nothing, so i assumed my turbo is a HY35W My truck is a 2001 2500 could some one shed some light on this for me.

Thanks again, I really appreiacte the help

it's Don Troxell. He has a listing in the TDR classified's He sells ajustable boost elbows for $15 shipped. I have one in my truck & it works great.

Jeeps.

I had a friend allow me to try an Edge EZ and then the Banks Big Hoss. The Edge was okay but when we hooked up the Banks and took it for a run... nothing! Maybe even a little worse than stock.

The person that worked at the shop and had installed it called Banks and advised them of our disappointing test drive. They had him tap a different wire for power to the unit and Wow! Big difference !

I ran this unit for about a week and a half and I was very impressed. More power than the Edge (seat of the pants feel) and it just made my 02 HO a lot more fun to drive... power anytime you needed it, anywhere in the RPM range.

Check with Banks and see if changing the wire you tap power from will help you also. It had been installed correctly per the instructions, Banks knew they had some problems and were helpful with a fix.

I'm not a big fan of Banks for a lot of reasons but the truth is this unit worked very well for me. It requires more of an install than the Edge EZ, more wires and connections, but it also allows you to put it under your dash and gets it out from under the hood, weather, etc.

Good luck,

Dan

jeeps, if your truck is a stick you've got a HX35w with a 12CM housing. If you've got an auto it's a HY35w with a 9CM housing. Like I said earlier, get that boost up higher and you should see a difference!

Good luck, JC

Ok looks like i have the HY35W ( thanks for the link darkhorse) My truck is a Automatic. Since i Cant use the boost elbow is there somthing else i could do to get the boost a little higher?

d. miner, I am gona try to get ahold of banks to see what they have to say, thanks for the tip

I was ready to buy a edge ez when a co-worker told me he had connections and could get me a sweet deal on the banks box so i figured i would give it a try, he saved me a good bit of money.

It's holding the wategate closed, sort of like not having a wategate at all. Now there is a "J-hook" that is spring loaded that allowes the wategate to open but with higher boost pressure than stock. <http://www.piersdiesel.com/DodgeUSPrice.htm> Piers has them on this page. scroll down to "accsseories for power modules"

My Banks Stinger kit for my '01 came with a restrictor jet that threaded into the wastegate actuator tube, and a drill bit to drill a hole in the tube.

I see boost in the low 30's all the time.

I had some weird injector pump problems , contacted Banks and they said to disconnect the wire to the fuel pump, and let me tell you, without the Ottomind hooked up, my truck felt like a dog. I hooked it back up, and it's like night and day. Never dyno'ed my truck, but it scoots righ along and tows like a pro.

Thanks

CA Stu

I would shove a spent . 22 cal round in the hard line. Plug the wastegate completely off. Since you dont have a tremnedous amount of fuel. The turbo will be ok.

I pounded on my hy at over 45 psi and the thing is still kickin!!!

I plugged my wastegate completely off and the highest boost I could get was 34LBS. So then I hooked my boost elbow back up and set it to 30LBS and I found that the EGT's are lower with the wastegate working.
