Banks Exhaust

Is it made from 409 or 304? Thanks.

from the stories i have heard of it rusting on the surface quickly, that would be 409...

That's what I thought. Just wanted to clarify. You'd think a name brand company like Banks would use 304 or at least have the option.

I ask cuz I want to go with a dual catback exhuast. Was thinking either Banks, MBRP, or Silverline. I heard Magnflows is 409, only from turbo back and isn't of the best quailty. I'm leaning more towards MBRP or Silverline now since I can get it in 304. Anyone know which may be the loudest out of any dual system available. I want my truck to roar.

You'll find they are all very close in total volume, one thing you didn't mention was what year truck you had, if you have a 2004. 5 and want it loud you'll need to remove the cat as it is a pretty good muffler all by itself etc.



The MBRP is what we are familliar with, they are available in aluminized 409 and 304 stainless. Duals and singles etc.

I have a 2005. Don't want to remove the cat right now as tampering with it will void my warranty.

The Banks muffler on my "classic" '94 is 304 (or one of those SS alloys that doesn't rust). Still looks good, I wish the rest did.

You can get a cat test pipe and install it with band clamps then if you need to see a dealer it's an easy reinstall. Just and FYI I know we have sold a zillion of them and they are being used this way.
